"Happy Heavenly birthday Jay", Y/n said as she set her things down. It was the day before his 22nd birthday.  She stopped by to clean his headstone and put fresh flowers in the vase. And again, someone had already done it. This was like the 6th time it had happened, and while she appreciated that person for doing that, this was her thing.

She began thoroughly cleaning the stone. She didn't cry, but her heart felt heavy.

Another birthday without you here to celebrate it.

Y/n wished to make sense of this. Make sense of why Jarvis had to be their target... why wasn't talking an option... why did it have to result in death?

"First ma... then you. It ain't-"

"Fair?" Y/n looked up to see her brother standing behind his headstone. She cracked a small smile. He returned one back to her then told her to make sure she don't miss a spot. "I gotta be the freshest one here errybody."

"Mmcht. Cause I can just put dirt right back on it." She light heartedly laughed.

"That's coo 'cause it's gon get cleaned up regardless."

"Speaking of, do y'know the person that does that?" Y/n asked. Jarvis shook his head in response to his sister's question. He was just as clueless as she was. She sighed as she changed the flowers "They always pick the wrong flowers too." She confidently put irises in the vase. Jarvis side eyed her and lightly chuckled at the fact she still believed that irises were the flowers he wanted at his funeral and grave when really Iri-

"You did good big sis", he said, "And I don't mean cleaning my stuff but about my case. I knew you could get them to reopen it."

She softly smiled. "Couldn't have done it without your push and without my friend's help. What were the odds he was a detective. It's like we were meant to run into each other..." Her eyes light up as she went on about how grateful she was to have L around.

Jarvis peeped that and wanted to say something snarky but let her have it because she did do something great for him.

Y/n left the cemetery and began walking home. She chose not to drive as she used this day as her weekly walk-jog-run. With a long distance to go, she prepared her music. The volume was at a decent level. Enough for her to enjoy it and to stay aware of her surroundings.

As she was minutes into her walk, a familiar voice she never in millions years wanted to hear again said her name.

Immediately her body went into defense mode and old memories started replaying in her head.
