The time was here for Y/n to finally be interrogated. The set up was the same as all the other ones. The dimly lit room with snacks displayed in front of them.
She took in a deep breath, calming her nerves as she got ready to speak about her deceased brother and whatever else she needs to speak about.
So far it was just herself and Ranpo in the room. L asked to sit this one out but Ranpo denied him. But L's mind was already fixated on not being in attendance. He went so far to undo his stitches. Even then Ranpo wasn't going to let him go. So now he was in the office restroom getting them sowed back together by a coworker who had a little medical background.
Momentarily, he joined them.
"Finally, you're back", Ranpo said, sarcastically. L nudged his head up in response. "Now, let's begin. Who was Jarvis to you?"
Y/n explained her relation to Jarvis as well as describing the type of person he was. "Everywhere he went it was like an imaginary light followed behind him. He was such a good kid and I'm not gassing him up because he's my brother. In fact if he was here I'd be doing the opposite— he had a big ego but at the same time he was humbled. He never made any feel they were worthless."
"So he was like you?", L mumbled but not low enough. This caused her to smile, "Yeah... And the attention, omg. It was always on him. I envied him once he was born because it was like everyone forgot about me. But once I held him in my arms, I sorta understood why..."
She took a long pause, then continued. She reminisced on how life was like for them growing up. When she was 9 or 10, and Jarvis was barely 5/6, the mother committed suicide. This broke their father and he ended up leaving them too—not in the same way—he neglected them. He was present physically, but mentally checked out of his parental duties. Then one day he up and left for good.
"I was 16 when he left us and Jay felt like it was his job to take the role as the man of the house. Our uncle was still there but he was stubborn and wouldn't accept it. So he tried his best to fill that role. It was challenging ofc because he was only a kid... To him that role meant he had to protect us. But who was there to protect him?" Tears crept up in her (e/c) eyes.
The detectives noticed that and suggested they take a break but she insisted she was fine. "As I was saying, who was there to protect him like he has always been for everyone? I can't really blame them for not seeing it coming tho, we were all blindsided by his death. 'Cause look, my brother was one smart kid, academically and streetwise. He was smart enough to keep his cuticle small. Trust was a big thing for us—" She looked directly at L and he nodded his head, picking up on her subtle shade. "—So the only way this could've happened is if he was with someone he let his guard down and they..."
Dots were starting to connect.
No... he couldn't— All of a sudden he's friends with Alan... No, I don—, after coming to the realization that the next person apart from herself and family Jarvis without a doubt trusted was...
