At the Christmas party, Y/n and L avoided each other like the plague. The last they saw each other was when they basically broke up, though they weren't even together. They did sneak a few glances at each other, and when caught averted their eyes elsewhere.
Y/n was doing just fine talking to the guests, since they were her family members, while L struggled to keep a conversation going. He wasn't a man of many words, especially at social events.
To alleviate the awkwardness, Cecilia suggested they play spades. Half of the guest walked out to another room knowing exactly how this game will end, and they didn't have time or energy to break up any fights.
As expected, the competitive game caused so many arguments to breakout. It was overwhelming for L. He decided to tap out and go to the porch to relax. Noticing his lack of presence, Y/n searched the room for him.
What a dick head, she mentally cussed him out believing he left without saying goodbye. She went to the kitchen to fix her 3rd plate then headed to the dinning area.
She was happy and surprised he came. At the same time she...
"If you're looking for him, he's on the front porch."
She looked up from her plate, "I wasn't-"
"I offered him a cigar and he said no. Who in the right mind would do that? On a good day like this too!" Dennis said.
Y/n squinted, "What does that have to do with anything?"
"Honestly I don't know who made the eggnog? I had about 4 or 5 cups of them and whew that's straight liquor."
She laughed and said, "Cece."
"That damn girl... So, what happened?", he sat across from her.
She shook her head.
"N/n, if it was 'nothing' why ain't you all up on him like you usually would be? And why ain't he been to my diner. I miss his money."
She deadpanned, "Uncle."
"I meant him. His money, him, they the same thing."
"Just a fight."
"He put his hands on you?!"
"Oh my god, no, it was an argument."
"Oh, you done almost caused that boy his life."
"Mmcht. Let's be fr with ourselves, you wasn't gonna do none."
He side eyed her, "Listen back in my day-- where are you going?"
"Away from you", she said, tossing her half eaten plate in the garbage.
