i've just moved from the uk to sydney australia, i was supposed to be just staying for the summer to look after my aunts apartment but she said it's mineee she's moved to america. she's always moving though.
My names Caitlin i'm 19 years old, and this is my story.
i've just got to the apartment and it's beautiful, it's got a balcony facing bondi beach. it's full of swimmers and surfers. that's one of my aims for this summer is to learn to surf again. Because i had surfed for 2 years in hawaii when i was living with my dad. I basically dumped my suitcase, and changed into a bikini and shorts, put on some flipflops(thongs), and headed to the beach.
ON my way along the promenade, as I was I walking along, I spotted a surf shop, which said surfboards for hire, and I know it was probably a bad idea to hire on my first day at Bondi as I wasn't 1000% sure where the rips were, I'd dealt with rips before. But I did, hey I'm here why not I've got to learn somewhere. I held my board under my arm and headed down to the beach. It wasn't overly crowded and I sat a couple of meters from the flag so I didn't hit any swimmers. I sat down for a while enjoying the sun and the beach. I spotted the lifeguard tower, and the little fan girl in me, smiled, I'd seen Bondi Rescue and was a bit of a fan. It's surreal seeing it all in real life and not from my tv in the uk.
After about an hour I gathered the courage to go for a paddle with the board, I got maybe 20 metres out and tried to catch a couple of waves, as a set moved in, I paddled towards the shore and caught a wave. I didn't stand for the first couple but eventually did and it was amazing. I love the ocean so much, it's just stunning. After a while I start to get a bit tired so I head back to the beach. Although that's what I thought.
