Jakes pov
I woke up, remembering last nights events, realising I was on Chappo's sofa, then looked to my right and saw 'Caitlin curled up. I headed over to the kitchen and saw a note on the kitchen surface... 'hey sleepy heads, hope the hangovers not too bad, headed in for my shift. Help yourselves to anything, theres coffee and milk and bread, etc make yourselves some breakfast, see you later, Chips' I smiled to myself and headed to make two coffees. I heard footsteps come behind, then arms wrap around me. "Good morning" I said. She huffed in reply. "Sore head?" I felt her nod. I turned around held onto her for a moment before handing her coffee over. In response she kissed me and headed back over to the sofa bed. I followed. "Are you hungry?" I asked. "I think if I eat anything it will come straight back up." I just laughed. "Not a lover of tequila huh?" She pouted. She looked so cute. In my lifeguard jumper. "Oh shit what time is it?" She yelled. "Its 11. You've got ages. Come here." I said standing up she gave me her hand and I pulled her up and walked her over to the chair opposite. "I'll clean up, you sit, drink your coffee, and then I'll walk you back to your apartment so you can get ready for your shift. Ok?" She hummed in response. Curling up in the chair as I begun to clean up. "You're too good for me Jake." I giggled in response. Once I'd cleaned up Chips apartment, we left making sure to lock the door behind us.
Caitlins POV
After showering off the hangover, I headed to work, Jake had gone home to shower too and said he'd see me later he starts a few hours after me. He'd be taking over the people who were morning shift. I walked into the tower, and Whippet was there with Box and Mouse . "Good afternoon Miss full time lifeguard." Box said. I winced. "Too loud, too loud Box." I muttered. Sitting down next to the boys, sipping on my coffee. "Ooh bit hungover?" He said I nodded putting my chin on my arms. I looked out to the ocean, even my hungover self couldn't ignore the beauty and dedication. "What did you guys do to her?" He looked at Whippet and mouse. "Ermmm nothing. It was all self inflicted thank you, I woke feeling as a fresh as a daisy." Whippet informed. "You are not human." I said. He laughed. Mouse leaned over to me hugging me. "Aww your so fragile poor Caitlin." He cooed taking the piss out of me. "Mousey be nice, I am in fact fragile." I whined. The boys just laughed at me. I headed down north as I was positioned with Harries at North. I slumped into the buggy. "Hi." I said grumpily. He smiled at me and laughed. "Hey darling, bit hungover ay?" He replied. "Just a tad." I whacked my sunnies on my face and had a hat on, to shield me from the burning sun. Everything was so bright. After about an hour of telling people to walk down to the flags and a few simple rescues. Harries and I were chatting about random stuff and he kept making me laugh. We noticed a swimmer stuck in a rip being pushed backwards. "He's dangerously close to the rocks aye?" Harries said. "Yeah no ways he's getting in he's too far. He hasn't put his hand up, but he looks exhausted. Might go for a paddle." I said "yeah I would." Almost as soon as I stood up he started going under and panicking. "Go Caitlin go" Harries yelled. I sprinted into the ocean with board and paddled as quick as I could.
Harries POV
*central to blue Rhino. Is Caitlin going for that swimmer by the rocks?* *yeah copy she spotted him, heading out there now. * *hes proper panicking hey* *yeah mate he's super close to the rocks*
I watched Caitlin paddle super quickly out to this guy, she was an excellent board paddler. But I knew it was going to be tough to get him back in, especially in the impact zone, mixing with the rocks alongside. This could be tricky.
Caitlin's POV
When I got out past the shore break, I saw the guys head bobbing up and down. "Hey just relax, don't panic ok im coming!" I yelled as loudly as I could. All thoughts of the hangover was gone, this was going to be difficult. I paddled over the sets that were smashing down and reached the guy. His head was under when I grabbed him. Pulling him up and putting him onto my board was the easy part there was a set looming. And it could smash us into the rocks. I know some of the guys could manoeuvre onto the rocks with their board, but I didn't know how to do that. I could either risk it and send the guy up the rocks and paddle in , or I could attempt to take us both back in, and possibly end up being smashed by the waves. Whatever I decide, it needs to be quick. And I know I have all eyes on me. I looked at the set, and decided. I put the guy on my board properly and turned around facing the sand. When the set loomed I started paddling and was caught by the wave we were dunked. Board flipped. I'd lost my board. "Shit" I cursed. Another wave crashed over my head. I pulled to the surface and looked around trying to find the patient. I found him and quickly swum to him. Holding him up from behind. "Just breathe, don't panic we are ok." He was definitely panicking and so was I. "I'm going to die!" He started screaming. "You are not going to die you just have to listen to everything I say." "Right..."
