Chapter 1: The prince of hard court

 

 

 

"Are you serious? That's what you're gonna wear?" Awang ang mga labing salubong sa akin ni Jill pagdating ko sa coffee shop kung saan ang meeting place namin.

Bahagyang tumaas ang mga kilay ko ang tinignan pa ang suot ko. "What's wrong with what I'm wearing?"

I'm wearing a white printed shirt and jeans. Ang lagpas balikat kong buhok ay naka- pony tail. Anong mali sa suot ko? Hindi naman baduy.

Jill rolled her eyes dramatically as she turned to Raigne who was just smiling. "Oh my Gosh. Did she just seriously ask me that? I mean, look at her, Raigne!" Iminuwestra pa niya ako gamit ang kamay niya.

Confused, I turned to Raigne. "What?"

"Ugh! Unbelievable!"

Raigne chuckled. "Jill, if Sandy's comfortable with her outfit then let her be."

Jill stomped her foot in frustration. "No, we have to find a dress for Sandy!"

"Ugh, hello, I'm right here." I said sarcastically.

"You are unbelievable!"

Napaingos ako. "Ano bang problema mo sa suot ko, Jill?"

"Shirt and jeans? Seriously?"

"Why? What's wrong with shirt and jeans? Komportable ako dito." Tumingin ako kay Raigne. "Pangit ba suot ko?"

She shook her head. "No, of course not."

Hinawakan ako ni Jill bigla sa magkabilang balikat. "Do you know where we are going today?" Puno ng kaseryosohan na tanong niya sa akin.

I nodded. "Big dome."

"Do you know who you're going to be introduced to later?"

Biglang lumaki ang ngiti ko. "Of course! Dylan San Diego!"

She lets go of my shoulders. "Exactly. Ipapakilala ka sa long time crush mo, Sandy!"

"I know."

"Tapos ganyan ang suot mo?"

Napakamot ako sa noo. "Galing ako sa work ko. Saka tama lang naman ang suot ko. Komportable."

Natampal ni Jill ang noo. "Girl, first impression lasts. You're going to finally meet the guy you've been crushing on since time immemorial! Kailangan magpaganda ka. Dapat mapansin ka niya!"

"I don't think she needs to wear a dress to be noticed. " Said Raigne.

Jill rolled her eyes. "She needs to."

I shook my head. "No, I don't." Napatingin silang dalawa sa akin. "Gusto ko siyang makilala pero wala akong intensiyon na magpapansin."

"What?"

Natawa ako sa reaksiyon ni Jill. "Girl, idol ko siya kaya excited akong makilala siya. Yun lang. Crush ko siya, oo. Pero mulat naman ako sa katotohanan na ang isang tulad niya na sikat at mayaman ay di papansinin ang isang tulad ko." I said without a trace of bitterness.

"You're beautiful and sexy! Imposibleng hindi ka niya mapansin, Raigne!"

I slung my arm around Jill's shoulders. "I know you want me to have a happy love life like you and Raigne."

"Yes!"

"I appreciate your concern but I don't want to have a boyfriend yet. It's not included in my priorities right now. Wala akong oras para sa love life. I'm busy with my studies and part time jobs."
