Spider Island

"Yes Donnie, I'll take out the garbage. No Donnie, I won't experiment on the kids' bionics while they're asleep again." Douglas said as he talked with Donald on the phone. Leo and Jodie then looked at him. "It was one time and you didn't even notice." Douglas said to the duo. "Gotta go. Yes, I miss you too." Douglas said before ending the call. "Well, Donnie and the students made it to Gettysburg for their first official field trip." Douglas said.

"Bionic kids and cannonballs. What could possibly go wrong?" Jodie said sarcastically.

"You're students. Why didn't you two go?" Douglas asked.

"It's like you guys forget I have the ability to duplicate myself." Jodie said.

"Oh, Big D thinks I'm there. When he takes attendance, I paid a kid 5 bucks to yell 'Here!' and another kid 10 bucks to yell 'Shut it, Leo'." Leo explained. At that moment, Bree walked into the common area. "Oh, hey Bree. We ditched the field trip, so we could hang out with you guys. What should we do on our day off?" Leo asked.

"Our day off? No, this is my day off and I already got it all planned out. I'm going to sit by the pool and read a book. I'd ask you to join me, but I live and work with my family, so I'm sick of all of you. Well, not you Jo." Bree said, handing a book to the superhuman, already planning to ask her to join.

"Ah, I see you took my suggestion." Jodie said, looking at the book she let Bree borrow.

"Hey, Chase, wanna hang out?" Leo asked as Chase walked into the common area.

"Sorry Leo, gotta make most of my day off. I already organized the weapons vault, alkalized the island's water system and taught a cute little group of dolphins to wave hello! Next up, some light reading. Ooh." Chase said, taking the book out of his girlfriend's hands, speed reading through it. "She ended up marrying the vampire? I did not see that coming!"

"Chase! Do you have to do that with every book I want to read?" Jodie asked, using the book to smack Chase, who only laughed.

Adam then walked into the common area, holding a rock. "Oh, hey, Adam." Leo tried.

"No." Adam said.

"I didn't even ask you anything yet." Leo said.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Go ahead." Adam said.

"Thank you. Would you like to han-" Leo tried again, but was interrupted.

"No." Adam said before turning to the other three superhumans. "Guys, check out this rock I found on shore. I had to dig it out from under a wooden box of old yellow coins and jewelry." Adam explained, showing everyone the rock.

"Adam, this isn't a rock. It's a fossil. Let me see that." Chase said.

"No!" Adam answered. Both bionic brothers started to tussle before Chase grabbed the rock, setting it on the console and scanning it.

Chase then let out an amazed gasp. "This is a prehistoric sea spider! It went extinct millions of years ago." Chase said.

"Way to go, Chase. You made my rock boring." Adam said and walked away.

"Cool, I love spiders! You know, back in high school, they used to call me 'Spider Legs!'." Leo said, earning looks from the others. "And now I'm realizing that's a bad thing." He continued.

"I think it's from the Cretaceous period." Douglas said, looking at the fossil.

"You're right, Douglas! It's from the Valanginian subdivision. I would have loved to have seen this spider while it was alive." Chase said.

"Well, maybe you can. You know, before I got into bionics, I dabbled in biology. I was trying to use fossils to bring extinct species back to life." Douglas explained.
