"Where's Maria?" Sensei asked Miguel as he started to put his shoes back on.

"Oh, she couldn't make it." Miguel explains. "She has to get ready for the dance."

"It takes her five hours to get ready?" Sensei asked in disbelief.

Miguel sighed. "Sensei, it takes her three hours to get ready for school."

The older man scoffed. "Put your costume on, I'm driving you to that dance, we're going to pick up some more students."

Maria laid with her head on Eli's bare chest, in his bed. She wasn't wearing a shirt herself, though, sporting her bra and a pair of Eli's sweatpants. Eli was in his boxers.

In the week that lead up to the school dance, Eli and Maria had gotten good at hiding the fact that they were dating. Demetri and Miguel had no idea anything was going on between them.

As the credits rolled on to the screen of Eli's television, Maria sighed and looked up at him. "Time to get ready for the dance." She said.

"Are we going to tell them tonight?" Eli asked her in a gravely whisper.

Maria bit her lip in contemplation. She really did need to tell Miguel about them, but he'd never live it down. "I don't know,"

"Come on, I can't hide you forever." Eli said with a smirk kissing the top of her head.

Maria liked the way he was with her. He was more confident and happy when it was just the two of them. But as soon as they left the comfort of his bed room, he was a disaster, but she didn't really have room to talk.

"And I want to meet your family!" Eli added cheerfully. "Come on, up up. To the dance!"

He got to his feet, dragging her with him.

"You know, we could just bail," Maria said mischievously. "Play hooky and stay here all night."

Eli plastered on a sarcastic thinking face. "As fun as that sounds, we have to tell the others."

Maria let out a long sigh. "Okay, whatever you say."

Maria was totally in love with her costume. The blonde wig with blue and red tips, the spiked chains and wrist bands, the cropped three quarter sleeve white shirt with blue and red on the shoulders that read: Daddy's little monster, the tiny black shorts that were mostly covered by the spiky black belt, the diamond printed stockings, and even the heavy black and white boots.

Maria even carried around a wooden bat, writing things on it as Eli's mother drove them to the dance. Mrs. Moskowitz knew that they were dating, and she adored Maria.

"Does anyone have a mirror?" Maria asked the silence of the car as they drove. "I think I need more lipstick."

"It looks beautiful." Eli assured her, Maria sent him a smile.

"You two are adorable," Mrs. Moskowitz said as she pulled up to the school. "Have a good night, call me if you need me to pick you guys up early!"

Eli and Maria walked into the gymnasium and found Demetri standing all by himself at a table. The two walked over to him.

"Yeah, okay, real school appropriate." Demetri scoffed at her costume.
