(Lydia POV)
Everyone left to go discuss what was next. I stayed in the living room with...Stiles. But should I even call him that? He's an imposter, taking over happy, lovable Stiles and turning him void. I hated it. The boy I'd grown up with, always so full of life now looked like a corpse I hardly recognized. Was that really Stiles? My Stiles? The one who told me I'm beautiful even when I cry? The one who ran to the hospital to be with me even though he can't run? The boy who held his breath when I kissed him to save his life? It couldn't be. But it's was. I noticed his eyes began to tear up. He's crying.
"Stiles?"
I rush over to him and place my hand in his face, rubbing my thumb against his cheek. He looks at me sorrowfully and nods. I carefully take off the tape covering his mouth. He begins to laugh.
"Really Lydia? I shed a few tears and you believe me just like that? Pathetic."
I gasped. His words stung. I knew it was the nogitsune talking, not Stiles, but those words still came from his mouth.
"You're scared of me. You're scared because I know your deepest secrets."
I raised an eyebrow.
"Oh you don't remember?"
I shook me head. He laughed.
"The reason your parents divorced. It was all your fault. Remember?"
I blinked. "How did you...no I wasn't. People split up all the time it's not my fault."
"I know people split up. But your parents did for a specific reason. You. Your dad wanted you to be a lawyer like himself. Your mother had other plans. She knew you wee smart and wanted to send you away to an Einstein Academy. They fought over it constantly. Finally, your father decided he could stay married to a control freak, so they split up. You mom called my dad and told him what happened. Of course Stiles listened, like he always does. Your mom wanted a restraining order until his dad talked her out of it. "
He knew. He knew it all. Tears welled up in my eyes. I remembered my parents fighting over where I should go. Was that really why they split up.
"Your lying. This isn't you Stiles, it isn't you!"
He laughed that menacing laugh of his.
"It is now."
I smoothed the tape back over his mouth. He began to scream.
"Stiles! I know you're in there! Please give me a sign or something! I need to know I haven't lost you." I shouted and ripped the tape off his mouth.
He stopped screaming and looked me dead in the eyes. I knew it was him.
"Hold your breath." he whispered.
"Hold your breath."
