Last one! I promise

Lydia POV

"NO!" I screamed in torment. I broke down crying. I collapsed onto my knees and sobbed into my hands. Scott just stood there with a weary expression. I could hear doctors yelling at us but I couldn't understand what they were saying. I think the explosion shattered my ear drum. Firemen entered
the scene and controlled the fire. They were too late. I was too late. Stiles was already gone.

I slowly stood up and turned towards Scott.

"I-I'm so sorry Lydia." Scott said softly. I forced myself to look him in the eyes.

"I couldn't saved him Scott. But you didn't let me go." I muttered angrily. The soot in my throat
weakened my voice.

"You would've gotten hurt too." Scott tried to justify.

"WELL THEN AT LEAST HE WOULDN'T HAVE DIED ALONE." I scream at him.

Scott looks down at his feet. I bite my trembling lip and turn my back to him. As the smoke begins to clear, I see the silhouette of a body walking towards us. I assumed it's just another fireman until he gets closer and closer. His shadow isn't wearing the bulky fireman uniform. He seems to be wearing normal clothes.  He comes closer to us and finally makes his way out of the smoke. I stubble backwards in fear.

"Hello?" I call out.

The man finally comes close enough that I can see who it is. I blink a few times it makes sure I'm seeing correctly. The man stops and smiles at me.

"Stiles?" I whisper.

"Hey Lydia." Stiles says.

We run towards each other and hug. I threw my arms around his neck and wrapped my legs around his torso. We squeeze each other tighter than we ever have. I grip his hair and press my body against him. Stiles buries his head in my shoulder.

He puts me down after a minute and I try to refrain from smacking him across the face.

"What were you thinking? You could've died!" I scold him. I was happy to see him but I was also furious that he could be so stupid.

"I know but I had to get something." He says.

"Get what?"

"This." Stiles says. He takes out his closed fist and drops something in my hand. I look at it for a minute in utter disbelief.

"My hairpin? You went back for it?" I ask.

"I noticed it wasn't in your hair when we hugged before. I knew it meant a lot to you and I couldn't stand to see you lose it." Stiles explained. I could barely believe him.

"Lose this? Stiles I couldve lost you. It wasn't worth risking your life for." I say.

"But it was worth seeing how happy you are  right now." He answered.

"You didn't have to do that. Why would you do that?" I ask.

Stiles gives me a soft smile

"Because I love you." He says gently.

I look up at him and stare at his ash covered face.

"I love you too."

I stand up on my tippy toes and connect my lips to his. Stiles bends down a little so that I don't have to stretch up as much. I wrapped my arms around his neck and smile into the kiss.

We pull apart, both left breathless. Stiles smiles.

"It's a really good thing I went back for that pin huh? I wouldn't have gotten to kiss you if I didn't." Stiles joked.

"Oh shut up." I say playfully and kiss him again.
