(Based on episode 6 when they're reading the book)
"Anyone feel anything yet?" Scott asked.
"Tired." Kira replied.
"Hungry." Lydia chimed.
Stiles looked up at her and smiled to himself.
"I meant about the book." Scott said. No one felt anything. Not yet, anyway.
Lydia began to fall asleep. Stiles shut his eyes a few seconds after. They both drifted off into a deep sleep.
...
"Are you sure Scott's meeting us there?" Lydia asked, getting into the jeep.
"Yeah. He said he's already there." Stiles answered as he slid into the front seat. He tried to start the car. The car rumbled, but didn't start.
"Damn it." Stiles muttered under his breath. He tries again. Still no sign of it starting. Stiles groaned as he got out to examine the car. He lifted the hood up.
"What's going on?" Lydia's asked from inside.
"Who know's. I've had this thing since freshman year and it was even in bad shape back then. "
"Well how do you fix it?"
Stiles pulled out his only tool.
"Duck tape." He replied with a little smile.
Stiles did his best to patch up the car.
"Ok. Go ahead and start it."
Lydia tried. Still nothing.
"Ugh. This damn car!" Stiles shouted and punched the car, only hurting himself.
"Stiles?" Lydia got out of the car of took his hand.
"Oh great, you're bleeding."
They sat down on the curb and Lydia began to treat his hand.
"This isn't the first time I've done this." Stiles said, embarrassed.
Lydia laughed.
"That doesn't surprise me. You've seemed a little more tense lately."
She looked up at Stiles. Her eyes were full of concern.
"Yeah. I don't know what it is. I just feel, different."
Lydia shrugged, focusing back on his hand.
"We've all been feeling a little different. Well at least I have."
"Different about what?"
Lydia shrugged again.
"You know. This town. Senior year. People...." she stopped. "You."
Stiles turned to her.
"Me?"
Lydia finished wrapping Stiles's hand, but kept holding it.
"Yeah. I guess I just feel a little different about you."
Stiles frowned.
"Different how?"
Lydia blushed.
"Well, whenever I thought about me and you ever getting together, the first thing that came to mind was "that's crazy" and..." she paused.
"It's just lately, whenever that thought comes to my mind, it just seems a little...not crazy."
Lydia looked up and met his eyes.
"But I guess I sound pretty crazy right now" Lydia said, and looked back down in embarrassment. Stiles didn't hesitate to lift her chin back up so her eyes met his again.
"No. Not at all." Stiles answered.
Lydia furrowed her brows and then dropped her eyes to his lips.
Stiles brushed his hand back until his newly bandages hand rested on her cheek. Lydia leaned in. They were interrupted by Stiles's phone buzzing. With his other hand, Stiles took out his phone.
"It's Malia. She's asking where we are."
"Tell her we're busy."
Stiles smiled.
"I'll tell her something even better."
Stiles typed the words "I'm breaking up with you. Sorry" quickly and then hit send. He tossed his phone away and leaned back into Lydia until they were just inches from each other. Lydia caught his gaze again.
"You're sure this isn't crazy?"
"Even if it is, I don't care."
Lydia smiles and crashed her lips to his. At that moment, the world made sense. Every random question in their minds was answered. It was like finding that missing puzzle piece you've been looking for. It was like scoring a goal or acing a test. They were both filled with that feeling. That feeling you get when you win. When you succeed. When you do something right. And this was right. Well it was. Until Lydia pulled away.
"Wait." Lydia broke off.
"What's wrong?"
"We are sitting on a dirty curb in a parking lot. This is not what I want to think of when I think of our first kiss."
"Second kiss, technically."
"Oh well you know what I mean!" Lydia replied, giving Stiles a soft slap on the arm. She looked around.
"There's an alley right around the corner. It's not much better, but it'll do. " They walked into the alley. It was lit with street light as night was falling.
"Ok, this is a little better."
"I don't even care where we are, just as long as I'm with you."
Lydia smiled. Her smile only lasted a few moments until it was cut off with a gasp. Her breathing began to quicken. They both looked down. An arrow had been shot through Lydia's stomach. Stiles looked back up and met her petrified eyes. Blood began to spill over her lips as she collapsed to the ground. Lydia wrapped her fingers around the arrow. Stiles watched in horror as she struggled to breath. He looked up and saw a dread doctor holding a crossbow.
Stiles dropped to his knees to tend to Lydia. He likes back up at the dread doctor.
"What did you do?"
"She knew to much." It replied. It turned away and walked into the night. Stiles turned back to Lydia.
"What did he mean? What do you know?"
Lydia choked.
"I can't tell you."
"Why not?"
"He'll kill you too."
Stiles didn't realize he was crying. She was trying to protect him.
"Lydia, it's okay. You're not going to die."
She nodded.
"Stiles, can hear my own name being called. This is it." Lydia was crying too.
Stiles shook his head.
"You can't die Lydia. I love you." The words "I love you" echoed through the alley and through the air. They echoed over the sound of Lydia's final scream.
"I love you." The night whispered.
"I love you. "
...
"Stiles.
Stiles.
STILES!"
Stiles woke up with a jump. Malia was standing over him.
"You kept saying "I love you" in your sleep. Where you dreaming about me?" Malia pestered.
Stiles sat up and rubbed his eyes.
"No. " Lydia said, also just waking. "He was dreaming about me."
Malias smile fell.
"How would you know?" She asked coolly.
"Because." Lydia paused. "We had the same dream."
Stiles looked at her.
"How do you know we had the same dream?" He asked.
Lydia looked around.
"That wasn't a dream Stiles. That was a memory. "
Stiles furrowed his brow.
"A memory? But that never happened. Trust me, I would've remembered."
Lydia shook her head.
"Then maybe it wasn't a memory. Maybe it was a prediction. Like, for the future." They all thought about this. Then, Lydia began to scream. She dropped to her knees just screamed. Stiles got down in the floor next to her, the same way he did on the ice rink so many years ago.
"Lydia! What's wrong?" Scott asked.
Lydia was a mess of tears.
"That better not be the future. It can't be. That better not happen!" She breathed.
"You mean you don't want us to kiss?" Stiles asked, quietly and only to her. He was trying not to look hurt.
Lydia looked at him like he was crazy.
"Don't you get it Stiles? I died in that memory!"
Stiles heart dropped. He forgot about that part.
"I'm going to die." She whispered.
Lydia buried her face into stiles. He hugged her tighter.
Scott watched them.
"Don't worry Lydia. " he whispered to himself.
"I won't let that happen.
I'd never let that happen."~~~~
