(Malia POV)
"Scott, can we talk?" I asked as I approached Scott. School just let out and I needed to talk to someone. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Stiles getting into Lydia's car. Ever since his car got wrecked, she had been driving him to and from school. I would've offered to drive him but he doesn't feel safe with me driving. I told him he could drive, but he still said no. I was pretty sure it was just a lame excuse to spend more time with Lydia. He had been acting over protective lately around her since Parrish and Lydia were getting closer. It was becoming a problem to me.
"Yeah of course." Scott said, getting off his bike. I sighed.
"I think I need to break up with Stiles." I stated. It felt so good to get that off my chest. I had been holding that in for so long. This caught Scott off guard.
"What? Why?"
I nodded my head towards Lydia's car. They were in line behind all the other students trying to leave. Stiles was in the passenger seat, playfully fighting over the radio.
"That's why."
Scott and I both watched them as they sat in her car. I used my supernatural hearing to listen in to their conversation.
"Oh my God Stiles no. We are not listening to the Star Wars soundtrack." Lydia laughed as her hand fought for dominance over the radio knob.
"Fine then. We can listen to whatever you want." Stiles said, giving in.
Lydia turned her eyes back on the line of cars in front of her. I could see her cheeks heating up.
"Death metal."
"Excuse me?"
Lydia shrugged.
"It relaxes me."
Stiles gave her a question look. She met his eyes and gave him a flirty shove.
"Oh relax. I'm just kidding. I can't stand that kind of music. You can't even understand what they're saying. We're listening to Fall Out Boy." Lydia said and popped in the Folie À Deux cd.
"Wow Lyds. I never thought of you as a fan of emo music." Stiles noted at her music choice.
"They're not emo, you uncultured swine." Lydia corrected as she pulled out of the parking lot. I turned back to Scott. I could tell he had been listening as well.
"See what I mean? They're practically married. Stiles obviously still likes her." I groaned. Scott nodded. He gave me a heartfelt look.
"Look Scott, I've done some bad things in my life. But I want to do something good for a change. That's why I need to break up with Stiles. I'm holding him back. I need to let him go."
Scott put a hand on my shoulder.
"If you think that's what you need to do then do it."
I nodded.
"Thanks Scott."
...
Once I got home, I texted Stiles.
Me: Hey
He didn't respond for ten minutes.
Stiles: oh hey
Me: what's up?
We were texting like fourth graders. It was frustrating.
Stiles: nothing much. I'm just leaving Lydia's house and walking to the sheriffs station
I saw an opportunity.
Me: I can take you
Stiles: you don't have to. I can walk
Me : it's fine. I live near Lydia. I'll be there in five minutes
I grabbed my keys and drove to Lydia's house. I found stiles a block away. He got in and we drove.
...
Once I pulled up to the station, Stiles hesitated.
"You want me to go in with you?" I asked.
"Nah it's okay. Its probably gonna take awhile."
I slowly turned away. He was about to get out when I spoke up.
"Are you gonna tell them about Donavan?"
Stiles closed the door and sat back down.
"You knew?"
"I guessed."
We sat in silence for a moment.
"I saw the bite on your shoulder when you were sleeping." I finished.
He looked at his shoulder and rubbed it.
"It didn't matter to me." I continued. "That's why I never said anything."
He looked away.
"Yeah well it matters to me."
He wouldn't look me in the eye.
"I'm sorry. I've been kind of out of it lately." He spoke.
"I've noticed."
He shrugged.
"Oh. I didn't think you did."
I sighed.
"Well I did. I noticed. More than you think I have."
He finally looked up at me.
"What?"
It was time.
"You and Lydia. I've noticed. I've noticed everything. The longing looks, the constant touching, the way you always figure out the problems together, the way you protect her and the way she looks out for you. I've noticed it all."
Stiles looked away again. He was guilty, I could tell.
"I'm sorry Malia." He said. His voice was full of remorse. He wasn't guilty because of him and Lydia, he was guilty for not letting me go when he wanted to be with someone else.
"I'm sorry too Stiles. Which is why I need to let you go."
He nodded and reached for the handle. Stiles hesitated before getting out and looked back at me. I gave him a nod and a gentle smile, letting him know it was okay. He got out and walked into the station. I sank down into my seat. I felt better. I had done it.
I let him go.~~~
Malia was brave during this scene. I liked her character a little more this season but I still hate stalia. Luckily, Theo is taking care of that. Enjoy my first one shot written in Malias POV.
