Lydia POV

"Where's Lydia?"

I jolted out my my sleep and opened my eyes. My senses came alive, one by one. I felt the cold night air on my skin, giving me goosebumps. I smelt smoke. I could see the night sky above me. I heard voices and sirens all around me. I realized I was lying on my back. I sat up a little and saw that I was laying on a gurney. A man in navy scrubs immediately came over to me.

"Ma'am, you've  been in an accident. Lie back down for me, please.  Can you tell me your name?"

I did as he asked and laid down.

"My name is Lydia Martin. What happened? Where am I?" I asked. My voice was weak.

"Your school bus flipped over. You're on Holland Road. Now, follow my finger." He answered. The name tag on his scrubs said Matthew. He held up one finger and a small flashlight. Matthew moved the finger and the light side to side. I followed them with my eyes.

"Is everyone okay? Where's Stiles?" I croaked.

"Everyone is fine. A few students have concussions but nothing major." Matthew said, ignoring my second question.

"Where's Lydia? Where did you put her?" I heard again. My neck hurt and I couldn't turn my head. The voice sounded panicked. They were too far away for me to make out who was speaking.

"Sir, please calm down. We'll find your friend for you in a moment." Someone answered the voice.  They sounded older. It must be a doctor.

"It's okay. She's around here somewhere. I'm sure she's fine." Another voice said. The voice was kind. I knew it belonged to Scott.

"You didn't see what happened Scott. She flew right out my my arms.  I think she landed on her neck." The original voice said. I recognized it as Stiles.

"The doctors said there were no major injuries. She'll be okay." Scott said.

"Can you tell me her name and a description?" The doctor asked.

"It's Lydia Martin. She's short and has red hair. I think she was wearing a purple dress today." Scott told the doctor. I managed to look down at what I was wearing to make sure Scott was right. I had on a purple skirt and a grey top. Close enough.

"She's 5 foot 3, green eyes, fair skinned and her hair is actually strawberry blonde. Oh and it was a purple skirt, not a purple dress. Please find her." Stiles pleaded. I smiled a little.

I reached out my hand grabbed Matthews elbow.

"My friends are looking for me. Their names are Scott and Stiles. Could you get them please?" I asked him. Matthew nodded.

"Sure thing." Matthew assured me. He called out for them and I could hear footsteps coming towards me.
I tried to sit up but wasn't able to on my own. Scott and Stiles rushed over to me. Scott grabbed my hand to steady me as Stiles held onto my waist. Scott immediately enveloped me in a hug once I was sitting up. Stiles quickly followed after.

"I'm so glad you're okay. I got so worried when I woke up and you with me anymore." Stiles whispered into my ear as he embraced me.
"I'm alight. Just a little bruised." I said to assuage his fear. Stiles pulled away and smoothed my hair. He stopped suddenly and looked worried.

"What is it?" I asked.

"Where's your hair pin?" Stiles answered my question with his own.

I reached up and touched my head. I couldn't find the pin anywhere in my hair.

"Oh, I guess I must've lost it in the crash."

Stiles swallowed. He looked back at the bus and stared at it. I didn't care about the pin that much. I was just glad everyone was okay. I'm sure I'll be upset over it in a little while once the shock has worn off , but it's fine for now.

"ATTENTION STUDENTS. THERE IS A GAS LEAK ON THE BUS. WE NEED TO EVACUATE THE PREMISES IMMEDIATELY." A medical official yelled into a megaphone. Students close to the bus scurried away.

"What's wrong?" Scott asked Matthew, who was still standing by my gurney.

"There's a small fire in the front of the bus. The gas leak is in the back. If the fire reaches the gasoline, the entire bus will explode." Matthew said.

I got off of my gurney will Scotts assistance and began to follow the rest of the students walked away from the bus.

"Hey, I'll be right back. I forgot something." Stiles said to Scott as he ran in the direction of the bus. Scott nodded and walked after me.

......

We stopped walking after we reached a far enough distance from the bus. It began to rain again so the doctors passed out water resistant ponchos. I felt and looked like a garbage bag. We could still see the bus from where we were standing. Most students faced away from the bus, but Scott and I stood and watched it. I wondered why the rain wasn't putting out the fire. A doctor came to inform us that a new bus was on its way to take us home. I felt anxious. I didn't want to get back on a bus after what had happened. I reached out for Stiles's hand, but couldn't find it. I turned to Scott.

"Where's Stiles?" I ask him.

"Right behind us." Scott answer.

I look behind Scott. I see a crowd of students, but no Stiles.

"No he's not." I say. I can feel panic beginning to bubble up inside me.

Scott turned around and looked at the sea of students, drenched in the rain.

"I don't get it. He said he'd be right back." Scott mutters.

"What do you mean he'd be right back? Where did he go?" I question.

Scott turned back to me. He didn't say anything. He just pointed towards the ticking time bomb that out bus had become.

"Stiles is on the bus?!" I nearly scream.

As if on cue, the fire began to spread. The middle of the bus was now engulfed in flames.

I took off running. Scott ran after me.

"LYDIA STOP. DON'T GO NEAR THE BUS."

I ignored Scott and kept running. My feet kept slipping on the wet pavement. I got closer and closer to the bus. Then, I was stopped. My feet left the ground. Someone was holding me. I whipped my head around to see Scott carrying me away from the sight.

"Scott! Let me go!" I demanded. I managed to get my feet back on the floor but Scott still held me back.

"Scott, let me go this instant or I swear I will never forgive you." I screamed.

"I'm sure Stiles is fine Lydia. He's probably back with the other students. I'm not letting you near that bus. It's going to blow up Lydia and it will take you with it." Scott argued. I kicked and screamed.

"LET ME GO!" I screeched. My high pitched scream made Scott drop me as he covered his ears.

I was finally free. I got up and continued to run until I was abruptly thrown backwards at full speed. I could feel burning hot air washing over me and smoke entering my lungs. I landed on the ground with a thud. I shook myself off just as Scott caught up to me. We stood up and looked up at the bus in horror.

It had exploded.
