•Stiles POV•
"Okay, I'm ready." I heard Lydia's voice come out of the dressing room. Scott and I were out dress shopping with her. It was supposed to be just me and Lydia, but since Scott was still upset about Kira leaving, I was guilted into inviting him. Lydia stepped out from behind the curtain to show us her dress. It was tight fitting dark green dress that fell just above her knee.
"What do you think?" She asked, giving us a twirl.
I nodded in approval and turned to Scott.
"I think you look very nice." Scott said. Lydia smiled and I swear I saw her cheeks redden. I frowned. I couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy.
"Scott let's say you had never met Lydia before and saw her wearing that dress. Would you try to ask her out?' I questioned. Scott shrugged.
"Uh...I guess?" He stated, seemingly uninterested. I could tell the only thing on his mind was Kira. All that was on my mind was if I was helping Lydia pick out a dress that would make other guys want her. Obviously, we couldn't have that.
"So, you think she looks hot? And you think other people will think she looks hot and try to approach her? Is that what you're saying Scott? That you want her to buy that dress so other guys will ask her to dance? Is that what you want Scott?"
Scott looked at me like I was crazy. And you know what, maybe I was. Lydia made me crazy. Especially in that dress.
"No. Truth is man, I don't actually care what dress she gets. I didn't even look at the dress she's wearing when I said she looks nice. I'm just here for the food court."
"Uh guys, I'm still here. And I can hear you." Lydia said. I had momentarily forgotten she was there and could hear our conversation.
I sighed. "Next." I called while still glaring at Scott. Lydia went back into the dressing room to change into the next dress. She came out a few moments later in a skin tight black dress with cutouts on the sides. It didn't even come all the way to her knee. My eyes widened I looked over at Scott who looked very amused at the sight of Lydia in this dress. I quickly put my hand over Scott's eyes and turned back to Lydia.
"Don't even think about it."
Lydia groaned and went back inside the room. I took my hand away from Scott's eyes.
Dude, you need to calm down. You're not even dating Lydia. Let her wear what she wants."
I sighed.
"I know. I just can't stand the thought of anyone else but me looking at her. Especially in a dress like that. I get so jealous around her Scott. I don't know why."
Scott laughed. "I do.''
I looked at him puzzled.
"Why?"
"Because you love her. You don't want her to be with anyone else. You want her all to yourself. That's called love.''
I looked back towards the dressing room.
"Maybe you're right."
I noticed Lydia still hadn't come out of the room. She was taking an awfully long time, considering she kept coming out in the tiniest of dresses. I suddenly realized I could hear sniffles coming from behind the curtain. I got up and knocked on the wall.
"Lyds? You okay?''
It was quiet for a second, until I heard a small no.
"Can I come in?" I asked timidly.
I heard some rustling, then the curtain was drawn back to reveal a tear stained Lydia. I went in and pulled the curtain back behind me.
"Lydia what's wrong?"
She sighed and looked at her reflection in one of the mirrors.
"Look at me. I look so stupid."
I looked down at her dress. It was a darkish blue with little rhinestones sewed on. She looked gorgeous in it.
"I gotta say Lyds, I'm not seeing any problems. You look very pretty."
Lydia blew out a breath.
"The dress is pretty. Just not the girl inside."
I raised an eyebrow .
"Are you being serious right now?"
"Yes I'm being serious Stiles. Look at me!"
I stepped a bit closer.
"I am. And I don't think I ever want to stop. You look radiant."
She groaned is distress and looked at the floor.
"No I don't. I look ugly."
I shook my head.
"Lydia Juliette Martin, I have known you for many years now and still in all that time I have never seen you look ugly once, especially not now. You're a beautiful girl. And if a girl as pretty as you doesn't see her own beauty, well then there's no hope for the rest of us."
Lydia looked up and met my eyes. She didn't say anything. She didn't have to. She just wrapped her arms around my torso and pulled me closer. I rested my chin on her head and held her tightly.
"Stiles?" She asked quietly.
"Yeah Lyds?" I replied. We both spoke in low tones, not wanted to talk to loud and ruin this moment.
"I'm gonna get this dress. You're quite convincing you know that?"
I laughed softly.
"Good. All the boys will want to dance with you if you wear that. You'll be in a sea of boy all night."
She pulled away a little to look into my eyes, but her arms remained around me.
"I don't want to dance with other boys. Only you, okay?"
I smiled and pulled her against me again.
"That's fine by me." I spoke into her ear. This time, I was sure I saw her cheeks redden.
"Perfectly fine."
