Scott POV
Im tired.
I'm tired of people dying. I'm tired of not being able to save anyone. I'm tired of feeling like the fate of this town depends on me. I can't take that kind of pressure. I never asked for this. I never asked to get bitten. I didn't even want to go out into the Forrest that night. Stiles made me. If I had just told him to go away, none of this would've happened. All those deaths would've been avoided if I hadn't become a werewolf. It's like the worlds worst domino effect, and I was the one who caused it. I'm tired of keeping all this anger and remorse bottled up. I'm tired of being a werewolf.
I'm so tired.I looked over at my clock and noticed it was 11:11.
"I wish I never was bitten." I muttered. Then I turned over and fell asleep. When I walked into school the next day, something felt off. I had an unusual feeling of dread. If something was wrong, Lydia would feel it to. I tried to find her but she wasn't around. I saw a girl with blonde hair putting books into Lydia's locker. I tapped her shoulder.
"Excuse me, have you seen Lydia Martin?"
She turned around and I almost screamed.
"Scott? It's me, Lydia." She said. I looked her over.
It was Lydia but...blonde.
"Your hair. You changed it?" I asked.
"Yeah. Everyone made fun of me for my hair. They called me names like "red" and "ginger" and "copper top". I was sick of it. I got tired of saying "actually, it's strawberry blonde" a thousand times a day, so I dyed it."
I furrowed my brow.
"But your hair was like your trademark. What about Stiles? He always corrected people when they said you were a red head."
Lydia got a misty look in her eye. Her nose reddened and she seemed to loose all signs of joy in her face.
"Well, yeah. Stiles used to correct everyone. But he's not here anymore Scott. You know that. Thanks for reminding me." She said. The last part was sarcastic, reminding me of Stiles, who I couldn't see anywhere.
"What do you mean he's gone? Where is he?"
Lydia looked at me like I was crazy.
"You don't remember? I know you guys weren't friends, but it was still a big deal." Lydia said. I could tell she was getting annoyed with me.
"We're best friends." I told her.
"You were best friends. But then Stiles tried to get you to look for that dead body with him and you guys got in a huge fight. You told him to leave and never come back, so he never did." She recalled.
"What? How do you know about that?" I asked.
"What the hell Scott? We haven't talked in years and now all the sudden to come up to me but can't remember a thing?" Lydia asked harshly.
"Lydia, I know this sounds crazy, but I need you to tell me everything that happened to us in high school. Don't ask why. Just please tell me." I begged.
She sighed."Fine. You and Stiles were great friends until the fight. I was dating Jackson at the time, but I broke up with him since he treated me like dirt. Jackson ruined my reputation and popularity because of the breakup. Stiles found me crying in my car and cheered me up. He asked me out and I said yes, because I really needed someone to love me. Saying yes turned out to be the best choice I ever made. We were like the schools power couple. Jackson got really jealous and on the night of the dance, he brought me out to the lacrosse field and tried to kill me. Stiles came to save me, and begged Jackson to kill him instead."
Lydia paused and bit her lip.
"So Jackson killed him. Right in front of me. I can't believe you don't remember this. We had a huge funeral for him. It was the worst day of my life." She finished.
Just then, Allison walked by us. My breath caught on my throat.
"Hey Allison. I like your jacket." Lydia spoke up.
Allison gave Lydia a dirty look. Lydia looked down in shame. Once Allison caught my eye, she just shook her head and kept walking.
"What was that about?" I asked.
"She still hates me for kissing you that one time. She went to your clinic after hitting a dog with a car. You helped her out and became friends. She started to like you. Then I ruined it all by kissing you. I've never forgiven myself. I never deserved her. You and I stopped talking after that. This is our first conversation in years." Lydia said sadly as she watched Allison walk down the hall. This one really hit me. I never became a werewolf , so I never had super hearing. I never gave her a pen on her first day because I didn't know she needed one. Being a werewolf contributed so much to my relationship with Allison.
I tried to clear my head so I could find out more.
"Where's Malia? Malia Tate? I asked.
"Malia Tate? You mean that girl that was killed in a car crash all those years ago? You're asking really weird questions today Scott." Lydia answered.
"What about Kira? Where's she?"
Lydia shifted her weight and crossed her arms.
"Why do you want to know?" She asked.
"Because she's my girlfriend."
Lydia raised an eyebrow.
"She's not your girlfriend." Lydia said defensively.
Kira suddenly came up behind Lydia and kissed her on the cheek while wrapping a protective arm around Lydia's waist.
"She's my girlfriend." Lydia finished.
Oh. Hale. No
"I heard my name. What's going babe?" Kira asked her.
"I was just talking to Scott. He's a little confused today."
"Oh I know Scott. He's on the lacrosse team." Kira said.
Lydia nodded.
"Kira was new to this school last year. Neither of us really had any friends so we started to hang out. She asked me out over the summer." Lydia told me.I couldn't wrap my head around this. Any of it.
"I have to go." I said and ran out of the building.I ran into the Forrest and started to cry. Everything was wrong.
Stiles was dead
Allison was alive but hated me
Lydia was blonde.
Malia died as a child.
Kira wasn't my girlfriend
Lydia was blonde??? Why??
And I was human. Completely human.
It's wrong. It's all wrong.
I checked my wrist watch. It said it was 11:11 in the afternoon.
"I TAKE IT BACK. I WISH I WAS BITTEN." I screamed into the open. I heard a rustling behind me. I turned around just in time to see a big black animal attack me and bite my stomach. When I woke up, I was in my bed. I looked at the clock. It said it was 7:13. I had to get up for school.
I stumbled into school and looked around. I spotted Stiles by his locker talking to Lydia.
"STILES." I screamed and ran to him.
"Oh hey Sc-" I tackled him in a hug before he could finish.
"Woah there. I saw you yesterday." Stiles laughed. I let go of him and smiled.
"I know but it feels like longer. I love you man." I said and pulled him into another hug.
I let go of him and picked up Lydia, spinning her around.
"MY BEAUTIFUL STRAWBERRY BLONDE FRIEND." I said happily.
I put her down and hugged her.
"Scott what's going on?" She laughed. I don't even knew how to answer.
"Scott? Are you okay?" I heard behind me. It was Kira.
"Oh look everyone. It's my girlfriend." I said. I pointed finger guns at Lydia. "Not yours."
Lydia looked at me confused.
"Um, alright."
Malia came up to us.
"Scott I could hear you screaming from outside." She said.
I engulfed her in a hug.
"I'm so glad we found you and turned you back into a human."
She hugged back.
"Are you drunk or something?" Malia asked.
"I'm not drunk. Im just really happy. I love you all. I know that things can suck sometimes. But everything happens for a reason, I can see that now." We grouped hugged and I sighed in relief.
We're right where we're meant to be.
