AN: another song imagine. This is inspired by the song Instead by Ryan Amador. There's a little Grey's Anatomy thrown in there as well. Hope you enjoy :)

"You're choosing Jackson, aren't you?" Stiles asked. Lydia hadn't said a word. She didn't need to. Stiles could read the lamentable look on her face and already knew what choice she had made. Lydia had chose Jackson over himself.

He couldn't entirely blame her. Jackson was her husband after all. But after Lydia caught him cheating, she left him high and dry. A year had passed and Lydia found love again. This time, it was with Stiles.

Jackson showed up at Lydia's door the other night. She had just come home from a date with Stiles. He had a bouquet of roses in his hands and a sea of tears in his eyes. His apology was lengthy and convincing. Convincing enough to wipe away what he had done, even if just for a moment. Lydia found herself unable to shut the door on him. She instead let him in, and they talked all night.

The next day, Lydia called Stiles and told him what happened. Stiles told her she had a decision to make, him or Jackson. Lydia didn't want to decide but knew Stiles was right. She needed to make a choice. She gave herself a week to decide.

At the end of the seven days, Lydia showed up at Stiles's door. Her face was cloaked in agony. Before she said a word, Stiles knew her answer. She didn't pick him.

"Stiles." Lydia whispered.

"Just go." He ordered.

"Stiles." She repeated with more authority.

"Go, Lydia. Go be yourself, on your way. Go be happy and in love. Go be with him." Stiles barked.

"I need to explain." Lydia cried.

"Just go, Lydia! Leave! And don't ever look back to check if I'm okay because you God damn well know the answer." Lydias tears fell faster at his words. Stiles laughed bitterly and pointed to the tears streaming down her cheeks. "And don't you dare be sad that you chose him instead. I don't want regrets and I'd rather be rid of it."

"You need to let me explain myself. Please?" Lydia sobbed. Stiles shook his head. He was getting angrier as she cried harder.

"When you want someone who'll care, who will know how you feel when you don't wanna talk,
who will show you support when you've lost your meaning, just remember this time when you chose not to be with me. When you chose to be with Jackson, an adulterer, but not me."

"He's changed. He loves me." She said.

"I love you more than he does. I would never cheat on you like he did. And I'm willing to bet he'd do it again, if given half the chance. You know I'd never hurt you. Choose me instead." Stiles pleaded.

"It's not that simple."

"It is that simple! He's not good enough for you, Lydia. He won't do the things that I would do. Hell, he's not good enough to be even half as good as he should be. Jackson won't give you the life you deserve. You're making a huge mistake." Stiles spat. He tried to close the door but Lydia stopped him.

"I have to give him a second chance Stiles! He's still my husband. We were in love once and I just want to see if we can have that again." Lydia cried.

"Then go be in love, Lydia. I don't care. Stop wasting your time here. But don't ever pretend that we're both unaware of what you said about him while we were together. How much you hated him for what he did to you. How much you wished he'd rot in hell. But sure, he's your husband. Who cares that he screwed his secretary two years into your marriage."

"He said he was sorry. I have no reason not to believe him. Jackson's changed. You'd understand that if you'd just meet with him. I think you two could get along. I still want you in my life Stiles. We can be close again. Just not as close as we used to be." Lydia suggested.

"Sure. Let's be friends. You and I can just pretend we were never in love. We could have a wonder friendship, couldn't we Lydia? And in a few short years, it'll be like none of this ever happened. We can be just as close as before. And then, I'll remember Jacksons there. And how he's been there for years, at your side, like a stain. I can see the pain in your eyes when you're with him. Don't act like it's not there. He's trapped you inside and you feel like you can't get away. But you can, Lydia. You don't have to stay with him just because he's your husband. You can divorce him and be with me." Stiles said. Lydia thought it over for a moment.

"I can't divorce him. He loves me." She said weakly.

"He's not good enough for you." Stiles repeated.

"Stiles..." Lydia sighed.

"I'm watching you choose him instead of me, and I just can't understand it. It makes no sense to me. You hated him and now you're rushing back to be with him? To be his wife? He doesn't love you. If he did, he would've been faithful. I'm sorry but I can't do this. I can't be your friend. I can't be less than what I was. I love you more than he ever will. Please, Lydia, please. Pick me, choose me, love me. Choose me instead." Stiles gave it one last try.

"I'm so sorry, but I-"

"Choose him?" Stiles cut her off. Lydia nodded painfully and swallowed. Stiles gave her tear stained face one final look.

"You made your choice. Now live with it." Stiles said. He slammed the door in her face and never looked back.
