(Lydia POV)
"Oh Lord." I breathed.
Two lines. That meant positive.
"I have to tell Stiles." I muttered then shoved the pregnancy test into my purse and got into my car. I couldn't be late to school again. Apparently having to fix my lopsided eyeliner wings isn't an acceptable excuse anymore.
...
I tried to avoid Stiles all day. I couldn't risk blurting out that I was pregnant in front of everyone. It wasn't until Scott started looking at me suspiciously that I realized keeping this secret would be harder than I thought. He couldn't keep his eyes off me during lunch. I knew he knew. I had to confront him and make sure he didn't say anything. Scott began to sniff the air.
"Does anyone else smell that?"
I gulped.
"I definitely smell something different. I think it's coming from you Lydia."
Everyone looked at me. I could feel my cheeks heat up.
"Babe, you okay? You look flushed." Stiles asked. I looked at him and gave a faint nod.
"You know what, it smells like baby-"
"Um Scott, could I talk to you outside for a moment? It's urgent."
Scott got up and followed me outside.
...
Once I made sure we were alone, I scolded him.
"Okay Scott I know you know what's going on but please you can't tell anyone that I'm pregnant because if-"
"YOU'RE PREGNANT?!" He whispered/yelled. I took a step back.
"Yeah. But you knew that, that's why I brought you back here, because you were about to say it."
Scott looked at me confused.
"What are you talking about? I didn't even know."
"What? But you said you smelled the baby."
He raised and eyebrow.
"The baby? I don't remember saying...ohh wait."
I looked at him.
"What?"
"You didn't let me finish what I was saying."
"Well what were you saying?"
"Before you so rudely cut me off, I was going to say you smelled like baby powder. Why do you smell like baby powder by the way?"
I slapped my hand to my forehead. So Scott never actually knew.
"Love's Baby Soft. It's a perfume stiles got for me. So you really didn't know I was pregnant?"
He shook his head.
"Werewolves can't smell babies Lydia. Well I mean, we could sniff babies but that would be weird."
I groaned.
"Oh god Scott, now you know before stiles does."
Scotts eyes widened.
"Stiles doesn't know?" He asked.
"Stiles doesn't know what?" I heard a voice say from behind me. My stomach dropped. I slowly turned around to see Stiles.
"Oh...hey sweetie." I said in a high voice.
"Stiles doesn't know what?" He repeated. I quickly turned back to Scott.
"Scott, um...i think think it'd be best if you left Stiles and I alone for a moment."
Scott nodded and darted past Stiles.
"Lydia, I'm going to ask you one more time. What don't I know?"
I sighed and stepped closer to him.
"This isn't how I wanted to tell you, behind the school near a dumpster I mean, but this will have to do. I'm not to sure how to say this. So I guess I'll just spit it out. I'm...pregnant."
Stiless eyes widened.
"You're pregnant? How...how do you know?"
I wouldn't meet his eye. I knew he'd hate me for this. Stiles wouldn't want to be a father this early in life. He'd leave me and I'd be left alone to take care of a child. I can barely look after myself.
"Well, I felt sick this morning and threw up. I went to CVS to get some medicine and saw a pregnancy test. I took it home and it came back positive."
Stiles nodded along slowly, taking it all in. I felt tears beginning to spill over my eyes.
"Stiles, I'm sorry. I know you don't need this in your life. I get it if you want to leave." I looked down as tears ran down my cheeks. I hated how high my voice came out. Stiles surprised me by pulling me in for a tight hug.
"Hey Lyds, it's okay. I'd never leave you first of all, and especially not now. You need me and that baby needs a father. It's going to be okay."
I cried into his chest.
"I'm so scared Stiles. I don't know how to raise a child. I can't do this."
He ran his fingers through my hair.
"Shhhh. It's okay. I actually have plenty experience with babies. Scotts mom used to make us help out in the nursery at the hospital when her shifts ran late. Plus, my dad loves kids. He can help us out. We're going to be okay."
I sniffled.
"But what about school? I can't walk around the hallways with a huge baby bump. And we're going to college soon. What then?"
Stiles held me in his arms like nothing was wrong.
"Lydia, we both know there's nothing left this school can teach you. You can leave school and take online courses at home and I'll finish out the year here. By the time college starts, the baby will be born. And hey, if we need too, I'll marry you in a heartbeat. We can move into a house and be a real family. But we don't have to worry about all that now. Right now, you just need to be taken home. Stress isn't good for the baby."
Stiles walked me to his car and kissed me on the cheek.
"We'll get through this, okay? I know we'll be just fine."
I smiled at him and sighed in relief. I felt much better now. I knew Stiles would make a great father. I couldn't ask for anything better.~~~
