Chapter 9
Ignored

KENZIE HADEYA

Ilaya whispered.

Doon lamang akong nahimasmasan.

"Sorry, I'm just in a bad mood." I apologized and heaved a deep sigh.

I tried to calm myself and focus on the game.

I tried to spike the ball as calm as I can, but they still can't catch it. Maybe I was just used to thinking that was Jadrien's face I'm spiking, I still hit the ball hard.

The game ended in our favor. It was also the last game meaning we won the league.

They congratulated us and I apologized to the player that got hit with the ball because of my spike.

After we shook hands, us cousins and Ilaya cheered and hugged each other.

"We won! This is our first-time joining a league and we won!" Kendall jumped as she hugged me tightly.

"I know! I think we have a future in this." Kait winked and yanked her arms around Keira and Kayleigh's shoulders.

"Magaling naman kasi kayong maglaro kaya tayo nanalo." Ilaya smiled.

I beamed at her and pulled her into a warm embrace. "Because you're a great team captain."

Without her maybe we'll lose in the first game already.

"Ken's right. Without you maybe we'll get eliminated immediately." Kayleigh joked.

"Anong eliminated. Magaling na kaya kayo bago ako dumating!" Ilaya laughed.

"Ay, alam ko naman 'yon, Ilaya. Nagpapakahumble lang ako." Kayleigh smirked as she brushed her shoulder.

We laughed at Kayleigh's banter.

"But you gave way to Ate Kenzie for the spiker position." Keira giggled.

"Did I really hit that ball real hard?" I asked innocently.

"Yeah, you did." Yusef said, yanking his arms around my shoulder as he chuckled.

Kasama niya ang iba pa naming pinsan at agad nila kaming binati sa pagkapanalo namin.

"Grabe mga spike mo, Ken! Buti hindi nagkapasa 'yong natamaan sa mukha." Yeshua said, concerned as he searched for the girl.
