It's the second night of a weeklong journey. Erin, Alina, Lilith, Levin, and Liochant are asleep. Katelyn and Aphmau are inside talking about what they want to do when we get to the capital. I was with them for a while, but I decided to head outside for some fresh air. I walk to the middle of this ship, and stare at the stars, before looking around and spotting Garroth. He's standing against the railing on the left side of the ship.
"Garroth?" I call out to the man who's lost in his thoughts.
"Hm? Oh... It's just you Anna."
"Is that a bad thing?" I ask, lowering my eyebrows and tilting my head.
"Not always... But sometimes." He snickers.
"Is now one of those bad times?"
"Heh. Depends on what you're here for."
"Look. I know you don't trust Liochant... But please... Stop showing it. For me. For Aphmau and for Katelyn. I understand if you can't, but at least try. So far, he's done nothing wrong..."
"Except show up right after Tu'La, the place who invaded my home, went silent."
"Tu'La should be the least of our worries at the moment. We're about to set out on a journey to find not only all the Relics, but people who can wield and possess them without dying. We're basically reforming the Divine Warriors."
"And what about our families?"
"They'll be dead if we don't stop Shad."
"And dead if we don't stop Tu'La."
"You family is still safe, Garroth." I explain with a calm voice.
"Barely. My mother is only safe because of me, as for Vylad, he's currently risking his life IN TU'LA to find our father. I have no idea where either could be!"
"Stop acting like you're the only one who doesn't know where their family is."
"Yes, well we know exactly where your brother is, don't we?"
"No, we don't actually. His body could be literally anywhere, because the portals gone... And so is he." I argue, my voice breaking slightly. I could so easily bring up his brother... Who's currently holding one of our dearest friends captive because of a STUPID FRAGMENT! But no, I won't. "And I wasn't even referring to him. I was talking about my daughter. Abby. Remember?"
"Of course... Apologies... I forgot."
"I know. You always do." I state, look firmly at him. "At least I remember you have family... A whole lot more than family than I do."
"Don't play that card."
"Why not? You were so willing to play the family in distress card, you forgot I owned the dead family one..."
"Please! You're so sad about the family you lost, you're neglectful to the one you have!"
I stop in my tracks and stare at him in horror for a moment. My tone drops from aggressive to sad, mortified and worried, "Are... Are you trying to call me a bad mother?"
"Well you don't exactly know where Abby is, do you? And you haven't seen her in over 3 years. Not to mention, you're willing to let a man from Tu'La, who we're still weary of, to take care of your other 'children' without any kind of concern for who he could really be? Not exactly your best idea."
"Garroth... You're an ass..." I state, glaring at Garroth.
"And you're just like your brother." Garroth mutters.
"I wish I never met you or your brothers. And as for your father, you never cared for that man. You hated him." I explain, holding back a couple tears, still trying to talk in a calm voice.
