Whilst on the boat, on our way back to the capital, I find myself confined to my quarters. Katelyn had volunteered to take control of the ship, so I didn't have to worry. Alina and Aphmau are playing up on the top deck, and Travis is studying the book I brought back with me in his temporary quarters downstairs.
In silence, I sit on my bed. I have a old cloth in my hand and my sword in the other. I rub my hand back and forth slowly, polishing my new sword. It's already shiny, but I'm trying to get my hands functioning again.
I lost a lot of movability in them when I burnt my hands... And no one even knows yet... I feel guilty, but it's best if they don't know. I can't be seen as a liability.
Once I finish polishing my sword, I stare at it, catching a glympse of my reflection. My hair. It's turning red again. I really need to regain my magicks... Having this colour hair is a dead give-away of who I am... Or who everyone thinks I am.
"Who even am I anymore?" I mutter to myself. "Hm... I should speak with Hyria. She's always been able to help me in these situations."
I lean over to the other side of my bed, and grab out my communication amulet from the draw. While trying to grab the first one, the boat rocks a bit, as some rough waves crash into the side of the boat. Having been laying in an unbalanced position, I fall off my bed, landing on the cold wooden floor, and a sharp pain runs up my spine.
I jump up as quickly as possible, horrified. I turn around slowly, looking at the ground. In horror, I fall to my bed, feeling gut-punched. The rough waves knocked the other amulet out of my draw... And I smashed it when I landed on it.
"No... No no no no no!" I jump off my bed, sitting beside the smashed amulet. "Dante... NO!" I stare at the broken amulet in despair and disbelief.
I hold the other close to my heart, and call out to Hyria.
"Hello? Who's there?" A familiar voice calls out. But not Hyria's.
"Why hasn't Hyria answered?" I demanded an answer.
"Abby! Give that here. You shouldn't be touching that." Hyria's voice calls out in the background.
"Hyria!" I yell. Abby... She's with Hyria!
"Hello dearie. Abby. Go upstairs. I need to have a private conversation."
"Who are speaking with?" Abby's innocent voice asks. "And why is their voice so familiar?"
"That doesn't matter. Now, go." Hyria commands.
"Yes, grandma." Abby voices says, getting distant.
"Anna, is that you?"
I reply, happily. "You've found her."
"Indeed, I have."
"How long... Has she been with you?" I ask.
"No longer than a 2 days. I tried communicating with you, but you didn't respond." Hyria explains.
"Please don't let her leave. I want her to stay in the forest. It's the safest place for her... At least until I can see her."
"I understand. I'll do everything in my power to keep her here. Shall I let her know it's you calling?" Hyria asks.
"Yes. But first, I need to speak with you."
"About?"
"2 things... I... I just broke one of my communication amulets... And my magicks still aren't strong enough... Is there any other way to fix it?"
"How did it break?"
"The boat rocked, knocking it and me to the floor... I landed on it and it smashed into like a thousand pieces."
