Liochant stands guard outside our home in Phoenix Drop as Aphmau runs around and plays with her girls and the messenger fairy Zoey sent.
I'm standing on the other side of the double doors, leaning against the wall with a cup of tea in my hands. Sipping some more every couple of minutes.
Normally, Erin would be down here playing with her... Alina and Lilith, but she's not in the mood to play, so she's sitting down by my feet, watching the other girls with a massive grin on her face. I think she's a little scared of the fairy. It's different from the ones she saw before.
"Erin, are you ok?" I ask, bending down.
"Y-yes... I... I don't like this fairy, I want grandma's fairy."
"Aww. You'll see one of grandma's fairies soon, but for now, just go play with Alina and Lilith and that fairy, and you'll see just how cool Zoey's fairy is."
"Hm... Fine!" She smiles, getting up and rushing over to go and play.
"Eheheh!~ You girls be nice to that fairy, okay?" Aphmau says, "Mommy needs to sit down."
Alina and Lilith giggle.
"Hehe!" Aphmau exhales, out of breath.
"Are you sure it's okay for them to be playing with that fairy? It looks otherworldly." Liochant asks.
"It's perfectly safe for them. As long as they're nice to it." Aphmau replies.
"Huh... Well, good thing you took their sticks away." Liochant jokes.
Aphmau laughs, "Right!"
"Lady Aphmau... Are you alright? You seem to have a lot on your minds these days." Liochant questions.
Katelyn opens the door and steps out, closing it behind her.
"She does," Katelyn says. "Then again, when does she not have something on her mind."
"True..." Liochant replies.
"Aphmau, I need to ask you... About this Heart of Darkness Zoey mentioned." Katelyn states.
"Yes?" Aphmau says.
"What exactly is it?"
Aphmau sighs, "I figured someone was going to ask."
"I'm quite interested myself," Liochant adds.
"I'm guessing you've been wandering too, Anna?"
"Hm? Not really... With you, I've learnt to just go along with things." I snicker. "All honesty though, I am a bit curious."
"Let's go inside, it's a long story," Aphmau suggests.
"Plus, it's nap time for the girls," I state.
"Come on little ladies!" Aphmau calls.
Aphmau walks over to them and brings the three over. I pick Erin up and smile at Aphmau, "I'll settle them, don't worry."
"Anna, It's fine, I can-" Aphmau said, trying to stop me.
"No. Aph, please. Just get settled yourself and begin the explanation." I reply. "Oh! And Katelyn, there's some tea already prepared if you'd like some."
"Thank you."
"Alright, let's go, M'ladies. You know the drill!" I smirk.

It took me about 20 minutes to settle the girls, tell them a story and put them to sleep. That took way too long...
I take one final look as I head out the door. I smile, realising how blissfully unaware they are of how cruel this world is. It's beautiful.
