Inside, Alina, Lilith, and Erin, were enjoying some cookies, and excitedly playing. Hyria, Garroth, Aphmau, are sat around the kitchen table, conversing about our recent travels and what Aphmau has learned. We're all drinking some Jasmine tea, and eating cookies, but Abby and I are sitting in the living room, curled up next to each other. Just sitting there. We're sitting beside one another, my arm around her, with Abby's head resting on my shoulder.
"You don't understand how worried I've been... I've missed you so much.
Abby lifts her head slightly, her eyes meeting mine. A bittersweet smile graces her lips as she replies softly, "I've missed you too, Mom. It's been... It's been hard without you."
I tighten my embrace, pulling her closer, wanting to reassure her of my unwavering presence. "I'm here now, Abby."
Tears shimmer in Abby's eyes as she whispers, "I've dreamt about this moment for so long. Just being here, with you, feels like a dream come true."
I brush a gentle hand across her cheek, wiping away a stray tear. "Heh... Too bad it won't last long."
A small chuckle escapes her lips, a mixture of confusion and disbelief, "I know... But let's just enjoy it for now."
Leaning my head against hers, I let out a contented sigh. "Life has a funny way of bringing us back together, doesn't it? We always end up together in the strangest of circumstances."
Abby's arm laces around mine. "It's makes for more interesting memories."
As we sit there, enveloped in a comforting silence, I realize that words alone cannot express the depth of my love for this precious daughter of mine. But in the embrace of that moment, I know it won't last. I'm bound to have to leave her again... It's my duty to protect my lord, and Abby can be safe here.
"Hey mom?"
"Yea, Abs?" I smiled down at her as I push a little piece of her fringe, and tuck it behind her ear, with Abby starring back at me.
"I still want to know... What did you do to your hair? It's looks terrible." Abby snickers, poking fun at my half-dyed, messy blob of hair.
It's been a while since I did anything to it, so it's a bit longer than normal, around my shoulder, and it's bright red on top, with brown tips... And a complete mess.
"Heh... I cut my hair off, wanting a change... And the brown was to hide my identity... I haven't had the time to try and fix it as of late. Been busy, you know... Fighting Shad, the Demon Warlock... Having to chase 3 little girls around to make sure they don't end up dead." I explain.
"Right... Can I try and fix it?" Abby pleads, sitting up, clasping her hands together.
I sit up properly, and look at her big beading eyes and pleading face. As I decide what to say, I mutter, "Abs."
Glass shatters from somewhere in the house, as a cute voice screams out, "Oh no."
"Don't worry. I didn't like that vase anyway." Hyria voice echoes out in response.
As I look around, I then see Garroth walking through the house, presumably to check on the girls.
"Oh! Anna, do you know where the girls are?" Garroth asks, his voice full of panic.
"Last I heard, they're that way." I state, pointing towards the direction of the glass shattering.
"Not helpful!" Garroth replies, rushing into the other room, with his voice echoing. "All right, now what is with the raucous? Are you girls making a mess for Hyria?"
Their little voices echo back with adorable screams.
"What? Alina! Lilith! Erin! Come back here!?" Garroth calls out, causing Abby and I to laugh.
