"Lady Aphmau!" A voice calls out, emerging from upstairs. As the voice descends, we notice Liochant approaching. "Ahh! It is you! I thought I heard you."
"Hey Liochant. You're looking well." Aphmau smiles, brushing off the tension from the last conversation.
"Thank you, M'lady. You are too kind, but I'll take that compliment. Especially with how unpredictable little Alina can be." Liochant explains, "I swear I must have lost almost three years of my life the moment she went missing. Searching for her was one of the most hero-ing experiences of my life. And I've seen combat before."
"Agreed. It certainly wasn't easy on us, but we persevered." Garroth says.
Aphmau and I laugh a little.
"Well I'm glad to see you all made it out of the experience alive." Aphmau snickers, as we exchange a knowing look. "I knew I could trust you. But, Liochant, you don't have to be so concerned. Lilith, Alina, and Erin are very smart and they know how to stay out of trouble."
"Evident by Alina cunning deceptive skills," I say, glancing at the child in the other room, making sure she's still here.
Aph laughs a little, but Liochant remains serious.
"That may be Lady Aphmau, Lady Anna, but as long as I'm alive, I will worry about these girls. They mean so much to you. To everyone. I will not be taking a break while they are under my care." Liochant explains.
I tense up a little, and bite my lip nervously. I breathe in cautiously, before attempting to resume a normal outwards appearance. He sounded just like Jeffory... The compassion... And determination...
"Thank you, Liochant." Aphmau says, before nudging me slightly to get my attention.
"Thank you." I add.
"Now then. May I take miss Alina upstairs so she can say hello to her sister and... Erin?" Liochant asks. "I'm certain there's much for you and Sir Garroth to catch up on."
"Ugh, you're right. I do need to speak to Garroth." Aphmau says, before turning to face her daughter, "Alina, would you like to go with Liochant and say hi to Lilith for Mommy?"
"Yeahhh!" Alina squeals, running up to Liochant, who guides her upstairs.
As Aphmau informs Garroth of all the things he missed, I lean against the bookshelf. Sliding down slowly, eventually making my way to the floor, sitting with my knees up to my chest. Aphmau looks at me a little concerned and confused, but brushes it off.
I don't listen entirely, and I only hear snippets of their conversation. I'm aware of the topics they spoke of, however. Firstly, Travis and his desperate need of a new wardrobe. Then Garroth's old dopey helmet, followed by talk about Travis refusing to accept Enki's relic, and Travis's plans for the near future.
As she speaks, I hear footsteps, jump up, preparing for action.
Followed by Aphmau beginning to open up about her vision, but then the conversation was interrupted... As someone bursts through the door. I draw my sword, before catching a glance at the intruder. It's just Malachi. I lower my sword, still holding it in my hand.
"Malachi? It's good to see you!" Aphmau exclaims. "What brings you down here?"
Out of breath, and distressed, he manages to mutter, "Pikoro village... Was attacked... By Shadow Knights."
"What?!" Garroth yells.
"Tsk..." I growl.
"Pikoro was attacked by Shadow Knights...?" Aphmau asks, questioning how.
