"I thought you weren't coming."
I stood at the table that Miss Arianna was sitting at and the look on her face was enough to make me think that she thought I wasn't coming.
Which I had second thoughts but I decided to come anyway cause tomorrow I'll just face her again.
Sitting down, I nod as I saw her smiling at me before passing me a menu. I look down at it before looking over at her as she was looking down at the menu.
"What's this for?"
She looks up and met my eyes. "Pick something out to eat. I figured I'll buy you dinner."
"Why?"
I saw her shrug. "Just being nice. Is this too much?"
Looking at her for a moment, I look down at the menu before thinking about this and even though I had that once voice in my head, I pushed it away before looking up at her.
"No, it's fine."
That made her smile then she went back to looking at the menu.
I looked down at the menu in front of me before opening it. I wasn't hungry but I didn't want to tell her that cause she'll start lecturing me again.
But when she asked what I wanted, I picked out something small.
I could see the way she was looking at me but she didn't question it as the waiter came and took our orders.
When he left, I grabbed a napkin and started folding it then looked up to see her watching me.
Looking back down, I messed with the napkin before looking out the window as people were walking by before focusing back on the napkin.
It was mostly silence between us cause she didn't try to start up a conversation or anything, which I was grateful for.
I talk to her enough.
"I know we talk a lot already but how are things at home?" I look up to see her watching me.
Shrugging, I look down at the napkin in my hand. "Fine."
"Do you still have thoughts about you being a burden to your sister?"
"All the time. They never go away."
The food came and I was thankful. I didn't want to talk anymore about it.
I didn't look up at her not once as was messing around with my fries on the plate.
My hunger just wasn't there.
But she saw cause when I glanced up, she was watching me.
She didn't say anything as she continued eating and silence fell between us.
"Do you want a to-go plate and take that home?"
I nod and she called the waiter over and got the check.
When I dumped my fries in the to-go plate, I glanced up at her as she was signing her name on the check.
After we were done, I stood up with her and grabbed my box before walking out of the café with her.
When we were outside, she looked over at me. "Do you want to go somewhere else? I figured since it wasn't late, we can go to the park here in town?" She waits until I reply but I didn't.
"I'm not from here so, I figured you can show me around." She smiles.
I furrowed my eyebrows as I look at her. "Where are you from?" I mentally slapped myself for being curious.
"Over in the city. Janet and I are friends and she knows this place. She showed me once and I enjoy it."
"This place is shit." I bluntly said.
"Well, I've heard some nice things about it."
I made a face as we walked in the parking lot. "Probably lies." We came to a stop at our cars.
"You hate it here that bad?"
"There's nothing to do. It's too small and boring."
She smiles, which makes me restrain from rolling my eyes. "You can't think of one nice thing about this town?"
As I look at her, I thought and instantly viewed the hill in my mind. I saw her watching me but didn't say anything.
"No."
"The people here?"
"I don't know anyone here besides my only friend and sister."
She nods as she kept looking at me before slightly smiling. "Well, maybe one day you'll meet amazing people and it'll change your mind."
"Doubt it."
"You know I'm your friend, Morgan."
I look at her for a moment before switching the box in my hands cause it was making my arms tired.
"You're not from here."
"I know." She smiles. "I'm just letting you know that I am your friend."
Nodding, I didn't know what to say to that so I just let the silence take over.
I leaned against her car and looked over towards the street as cars were driving by before looking back at her.
She was watching me but quickly looked away when I caught her.
"So, do you want to go somewhere else?"
"Not really. It's too hot and I'm not the type to travel places."
She nods then slightly smiles. "I understand, Morgan. I kind of picked that up the second day we met."
"Yeah." I nod as I held onto the plate boxes in my hand and was already ready to leave.
"Well.." She started and I looked over at her. "I'm not going to keep you from leaving cause I know that's what you want. But I enjoyed your company. Thank you for coming."
Nodding, I leaned off her car as she opened the door and placed her purse inside before leaning back out.
"I'll see you tomorrow?"
"Sure."
She smiles at me before saying her goodbye and getting in her car.
I walked to mine and opened the door before placing the plate box in the passenger seat before getting in and shutting the door.
As I sat there, I watch her leave the parking lot. I leaned against the seat and mentally groaned as I should of went somewhere else with her but then again, I'm glad I didn't.
It's a never ending tug-o-war in my head and it's making me lose my mind.
Miss Arianna is a great person but I always have that voice in the way telling me that I didn't need to get any closer to her than I already am.
I sighed as I started the car and headed home.
With so many thoughts running through my head.
