Trials of An Alpha

Chapter 2

Entering into the main foyer of the academy its clear that this place used to be a grand building, with a dual staircase winding up both sides of the main entrance towards the next floor, presumably the beta and alpha floors. In the middle of the staircases was another doorway, although the detailing on this one was simple compared to the main door, with detailing of vines contained to the corner edges of each door.

Instead of heading towards those doors Claire instead took a sharp right towards a hidden door underneath the staircase, this must have been the old servants wing back in the day, obvious by they fact the door wasn't immediately noticeable and was also considerably plain compared to some of the other parts of the building.

Going through this door we entered a small corridor, painted in a plain yellow colour with no decoration and only one window at the end, I guess this area of the school isn't used too much. Continuing down the corridor we came to another door which must have led to the outside because I could already smell the fresh woodsy air of the outdoors coming in, when Claire opened the door and continued outside this only confirmed my suspicions even more.

Walking back outside it was obvious the old servants passage had led us through the main building and deposited us around the back of the academy, right out onto the quad on which the dormitories were on the other side of. The dormitories were more modern compared to the main building of the academy. They were still made of a similar sand coloured stone, but were obviously newer due to the lack of cracks and modern amenities added to the building, like keypads and big glass windows on the communal rooms.

Claire had ignored me and my struggle in managing my suitcases the whole walk through the academy so far. But, on exiting onto the quad outside, she abruptly stopped, turning towards me and with a look of disregard blatantly said, "The female dorms are to your left, the code is 3578 to enter and you are the 4th room on the 3rd floor, now I have better things to be doing than showing a looser like you around, tootles" she said wiggling her fingers in my direction and strutting off. I was yet again abandoned on the grounds of the academy with no idea where I was going.

Sucking up my pride I picked up my suitcases again and started heading to the dorms on the left, after many readjustments of my stuff I managed to find the main door to the dormitory. Plugging in the code to the door I tried to twist the handle to enter the building but I couldn't. Thinking I had typed the code wrong I tried it again but got the same result as before. Nothing. Before I could try the code a third time it unlocked from the inside and opened, a group of boys came bustling out all of similar age to me. They continued on with their bickering and play fighting not noticing me at first, but that didn't last long.

The tallest of the group, with dark brown messy hair and green eyes, was the first to stop and notice me stood there completely clueless as to why there would be boys in this dormitory right now. It didn't take long for the other two, one with black hair and green eyes, the other with blonde hair and brown eyes, to realise their friends attention was no longer on them. All three of the boys were looking at me in confusion, like they couldn't understand why I was stood here with my suitcases. Realising their confusion over me being stood here I instantly knew that Claire had sent me over to the male dorms instead of the female ones. I groaned at the thought of having to drag my suitcases back across the quad, I was SO not in the mood for this. Again I really don't like this girl already.

Realising I was in the wrong place and new to the academy the boys took the chance to introduce themselves, the tall dark haired guy took lead saying, "Hi there, I'm Issac" pointing at the other two he continued on, "the black hair and green eyes guy is Daren and the blonde hair brown eyes guy is Evan. You seem a little lost, you see this is the males dormitory the females one is over there" Issac indicated pointing towards the right hand side dormitories, the complete opposite direction to where I was right now, like it wasn't already obvious to me that I was in the wrong place.
