The day had started as normal with Hannah and Darla meeting me in my room for our walk to breakfast. They must have already heard some of the stuff floating around about me because the looks in their faces were more than enough to tell me I needed to be prepared for anything when I walked out that door. Steeling myself I finally summoned enough courage to walk out my head held high. A look of defiance spread across my face, daring anyone to say anything.

The boys were waiting for us at the door to the girls dorms, having not wanted us to do the walk alone. They tried to surround me and shield me from peoples gazes but my wolf and I weren't having it. The truth was out now, may as well embrace it. We led the group, Aiden by our side, to the refrec, waiting in line and sitting down all together. We ignored the stares and how quiet people became as we walked past them. I guess this is what I would have to get used to from here in out. This is why I hate any form of school, people treated me the same back then when they didn't know everything and are only treating me the same now they do. Some things never changed.

It hurt to know that so many people watched me in suspicion now, those same people who watched me with respect. People never liked what they didn't know and to them that's what I was. I'm glad my friends had stood by me though. They were glaring at people who came too close, or said particularly rude things about me, even Zach was defending me. In this moment I felt like we were a pack, my wolves and my friends. My wolf hummed her agreement sharing the same sentiment. She already regarded her friends as her pack.

Classes carried on rather similar, Vince was constantly by my side throughout. Both of us ignoring the attention we received. I think something must have been passed along the teachers grape vine too because even they regarded me with a new found Interest.

The afternoon classes began the same. But it wasn't until we were just wrapping up that we heard a commotion out in the woods, flocks or birds taking off to the sky. I wouldn't have dwelled on it too much were it not for the sounds of viscous growls in the distance. An alarm suddenly sounded across the school, the teacher yelling at us to remain calm and head to the bunker.

It was too late though, I could already see the rogues rushing at the academy from the woods. The few people we had as a defence, consisting of off-duty patrols, the sparring teachers and various other persons, could be seen gathering on the quad. I saw Mr. Jones amongst them, ordering people around and getting into position as the rogues approached us fast.

I knew my friends were somewhere in the school and I know they wouldn't go quietly. I had to find them. I wouldn't go to the bunker until I knew where they all were. Stumbling back from the window Aiden caught me, I looked at him and he knew exactly what I was thinking. He didn't even try to argue with me as he nodded resolutely, silently yelling agreeing we needed to find our pack. Taking one last glance back at the window I could see the first rogues beginning to break the tree line at last. I knew I had to act fast.

Rushing out the room I joined the crowd as I went down the stairs desperately searching for my friends. Aiden was hot on my heels. I could feel my wolf's panic rising as we couldn't see them, her urge to shift where our senses were better increased. Reaching the first floor I could hear the battle begin outside as the rogues and our defence made contact. Some of the older students, like my brother, were stood to the side directing students I knew they would join the fight once everyone was safe. I felt a pang in my chest at the thought of my brother fighting but I didn't think of it for long this was not the time for sentimentality.

I could smell Hannah's scent now. Following it I soon found her kicking up a fuss, as soon as she saw me she sagged in relief. She wasn't alone our group had all found each other in the entrance to the school. The sounds of the battle were in full swing now, the scent of blood thick in the air. Looking around I saw all the frightened faces of those heading to the safe room, my friends and I were hidden in an alcove so not to get rushed away with the crowd.
