It was a good thing that we took the time yesterday to relax and chat, even if it was to break the news to Zach who took it quite well. I mean he's also apart of it all now. Classes today were delayed, all students were requested to attend the refrec for breakfast because there was an announcement to be made. Sitting down with my friends we could hear the buzz around us as people questioned what this was about. Our whole time here we had never had an assembly like this. It must be something important.
Voicing my thoughts aloud I asked the group "Does anyone know what this is about? It seems a bit weird doesn't it?" Aiden and Zach looked at each other in a strange way "What? What is it that you know?" I asked, whatever it was based on their shared look it wasn't good.
They shared their look before Zach spoke "I'm not sure but we've been hearing reports of the rogue attacks getting worse, they attacked the Tally pack the other day which means they are getting closer to the school each day. If it's about anything I bet it's that"
I was shocked to hear the Tally pack had been attacked, they were one of the stronger packs, so for the rogues to co-ordinate an attack against them then it would mean they are getting stronger. "Who do you think is behind it? Someone has to be right? The rogues couldn't plan all of this by themselves they aren't capable" Bryan voiced my thoughts aloud, everyone thinking the same thing. No one could offer him a reply because in truth no one really had any idea what was going on. It had been years and years since the rogues had rallied like this.
A hush fell over the crowd of people as Mr. Wraster appeared in the doorway. He stood there looking out over us all. His face was expressionless not giving anything away as we waited anxiously to hear what he had to say.
Clearing his throat he finally spoke "I have called you all here today to discuss the matter of the rogues. As you have probably noticed some students have been pulled from the academy with fears for their safety, I can assure you you're safe here, but training will increase and we will be bringing forward your wolf training to today, so that should the academy fall under attack, or we need to send relief to a close pack then you are trained for this. We don't expect an attack and we have procedures in place but with how the rogues are moving we can't be too sure. But please try not to worry too much and let the adults handle it. Now enjoy your day and your new training schedules that is all." He shouted out across the refrec, stunning us all into silence. As soon as he left the refrec exploded into chatter everyone discussing his announcement.
All I could focus on was the fact that we had to train today in our wolf forms. I was screwed with everything going on I hadn't managed to find an excuse to get out of it. I didn't know what I would do today. I wasn't ready to expose myself like this. My friends were chatting about the prospect of training in their wolf forms whilst I sat there quietly. Only Aiden wasn't joining in their conversation. Instead he was watching me carefully. He leant into me "I know what you're thinking and it's ok I can help you skip if you want to?" He said knowing exactly where my thoughts had gone to.
My friends must have overheard him because they quietened down watching us, or rather watching me. I wasn't sure what to say, Aiden needed to train, so did I but I couldn't shift in front of everyone. Bryan shrugged his shoulders at me "It's up to you what you do Cerise, but maybe it's time. You can't hide for forever. And who cares what everyone else thinks. You have us" the group cheered at me as he said that last part, signalling their agreement with him.
I thought about it. He was right I couldn't hide for forever it was going to happen eventually and I would have Aiden and Darla there with me. The prospect of showing my wolf to so many people after hiding her so long even in my own pack was terrifying. Even my wolf felt incredibly anxious about it. But she was excited too, the thought of people really understanding our true potential appealing. I think she was ready for it, the question was am I?
