About 3 hour later we were finally ready to leave. Jay was visibly nervous, chewing a bit on his thumb, which oftentimes led to Nightmare lightly slapping his hand, but strong enough to make Jay snap out of it and continue getting ready. I noticed him doing this a lot lately, he never really did that before. Dad was always the calm and collected guy, but Notch seemingly made him do a 180. Right now he was incredibly tense, trying to calm down tho. In a gentle manner I did what he has done so many times and hugged him tightly from the side, trying to soothe his worries a bit by squeezing them out nice and tight. He tensed a bit and glanced at me. "Red...", he muttered after a bit, putting his arms around me. I glanced at him. "What's wrong? You don't seem so sure anymore.", I remarked, concerned. Jay lowered his head a bit, seemingly upset and scared about something. "What, if he doesn't want to come back to me?" I realized what he meant and broke the hug, putting my hands on his cheeks and making him look into my eyes. For a split second a look of pure shock flashed across his face, as if that made him remember something. But it was gone as quickly as it appeared, covered up by worry and sorrow. A small frown formed on my face as I pulled him down to eye level in a gentle way, putting on a slight pouty face. He looked surprised as I put a small kiss on his nose. "Stop worrying, he loves you way too much to leave you once and for all He wanted to teach you a lesson, found no other way to handle the shock. Cutting wasn't doing it for him, it was the last attempt on a scream for help. The worst thing we can do now is to leave him to suffer, wherever he is now. He wouldn't want you to be upset, he'd want you to be happy and smile, ready for what's about to come and determined to save your soulmate. This is what he'd do too.", I explained. While I was talking, I noticed him tear up quite heavily, tears running down his cheeks. I smiled and ran my left thumb over his cheek, wiping them away. A quiet sob escaped him and he fell into my arms, crying his heart out. I kept him really close, kneeling down so he doesn't need to stand. He curled up in my embrace, broken like a porcelain doll. This was the second real time I saw Jay break down in front of me, the first time was at Notch's death. But this was the very first time he clung to me that much. Hero joined in, sitting down across from me and hugging us both. Jay held onto his shirt, refusing to let go for a long time. I was really glad that he helped me now, giving him a small smile. He returned the favor and rested his head on Jay's shoulder, whispering sweet nothings into his ear. Jay loosened up a bit after a while, relaxing visibly. He sniffed quietly, tho let out much deeper, calmer breaths. I giggled and pulled out tissue from my jacket, handing it to him. He quietly thanked me and blew his nose, better now. "Who would've thought that your son would one day calm ya down, old man?", Hero joked, trying to loosen the situation up a bit. Jay chuckled almost silently, smiling a bit. "Yeah, who would've thought...", he mumbled under his breath, releasing us both. I was about to pick him up when Nightmare already came to our aid, easily lifting him up. "Ya big baby.", he snickered. Jay smiled and hid in his shoulder, holding on pretty tightly as Nightmare marched off to the kitchen, carrying him. A smile snuck onto my lips and I leaned against Hero. Jay had his friends here that would support and take care of him. He wasn't alone, every single one of us would sacrifice themselves to make him reunite with with his husband. We established that in a meeting while he was packing. He believed none of us knew what was going on, meanwhile we were in the other room, thinking about how we'd help him find Notch. And Jura almost immediately said that we need to do anything it takes to have them reunite. Hero gently nibbled on my ear, making me giggle. "Stahp, ya devil!", I giggled, moving my head away a bit. He followed softly and nibbled tenderly, purring. "Hey, don't escape me, baby~", he whispered. "I wanna have a nice taste of you~" I went red, but gladly kept him close. "Sweetie?", I asked. He paused for a bit to let me ask my question as I played a bit with the bell around his collar, one I recently added. "Do you think...-", I started, but Hero put a finger on my mouth. "I know my brother. He'd desperately want us to get him out of this mess. I can't imagine the agony he's in if he exists, but it has to be a lot.", he explains as calmly as possible, knowing the difficulty of this situation. I smiled tho, calmed down, and hid in his chest. "Thank you, babe.", I whispered. He nodded and kissed my forehead before getting up. "We should go now tho. Before it actually is too late.", he replied quietly, picking me up to help me stand on my own feet. A giggle escaped me and I gave him a small kiss on the nose. "Yeah, we should." We called everyone else over and got ready, taking our things. We put on our bags and took our weapons, Jura having his axe which we managed to fix up a bit, I hady rapier, Hero had his scythe, Nightmare had the ShadowBreaker, a sword I didn't even dare touch, and everyone else had their own weapons too, Jay sticking to magic of course, but also having Notchs' sword with him. His look was pained when he grabbed the gold sword, eyeing the white wooden handle with the engravings. A silent sigh escaped me. This was brutal to watch, but he just put the sword onto his belt, ensuring it would stay safe. And then we were ready to leave. We exited the castle and Nightmare locked it, putting the key into a hiding spot in the wall. Seeing the woods like this sent a cold shiver down my spine. This was very different from every other time. Now we knew that we would either succeed, or none of us would ever set foot onto this place again. But I was excited. This was great, it would be a ton of fun, but also really dangerous. Looking in front of us, we made our way away from the castle, and into the new legacy.
