(Am not exactly proud of this chapter, it has way too much dialogue for my taste and I needed way too long T-T)
I stayed awake with Jubilea by my side. The others were currently asleep, so a heavy silence fell over our camp. Not as heavy as Jubileas' lack of words, he quietly stared into the fire and fiddled with his thumbs. He seemed to be deep in thoughts, but also incredibly tense. I reached over and gently rubbed over his shoulder, which caused him to flinch in surprise and look at me in a mixture of fear and confusion. "Are you okay?", I asked softly. He kept his eyes locked with mine for a few moments before nodding and going back to staring into the fire. But now he finally seemed to have relaxed a bit, he was less tense than before. It wasn't much, but it was a good start. I kept watching him for a bit before staring at the fire as well. "Does your tail still hurt?", I continued. Jub nodded slightly. "Yeah, a bit... less than before tho.", he mumbled, running a hand over his throat. I frowned slightly before scooting closer, softly placing my finger on his lower back, trailing down to his tail. He yelped a bit before going red and glancing at me, not sure what I was planning. I kept going further and further down before arriving at his tail, gently rubbing the area a bit above the fracture to try and sooth the pain. A small shiver ran over his spine, causing me to pause. He really seemed to enjoy this tho, letting out a small whine when I stopped. I giggled and continued, making him melt back into my touch. "This is soothing...", he mumbled after a while, lowering his shoulders a bit. He was less tense now, looking surprisingly relaxed. I smiled. "Well, glad you think so.", I whispered as a reply and stretched. He watched me for a while before looking down. "Jay?", he asked me softly. I looked at him, surprised. "Yes, Jubilea?", I replied. "Can you hear this?" I frowned softly and listened closely. There was only the gentle rustling of the leafs at first, so I tilted my head in confusion. Now I heard what he meant, tensing up. There were whispers around us, and those didn't come from the tents. In a pretty uneasy manner I looked around, nervous. A bunch of mobs had gathered around us, but they didn't get closer than roughly 10 meters, so none of them were near the tents. "Why aren't they coming closer?", I mumbled more to myself than Jub. "I... might've put a salt circle down shortly after we arrived.", he aswered my question, giggling slightly. Honestly, he was really adorable sometimes. He's probably also a really cuddly person, but currently with Xander, it's not easy. Also he often wants to be alone sadly... "Oh? You did? Well thank you!", I replied, smiling. He smiled back, cheerful now. Maybe now... I offered him my arms for a tight hug. He blinked in surprise at first before he actually leaned against me, accepting the embrace. I kept him really close, chuckling slightly. "I'm kind of surprised that you accepted my hug. That's... Rare for you.", I whispered into his ear. He relaxed and hugged me, refusing to let go. "I'm... sort of a very introverted guy. Physical attention oftentimes makes me very nervous...", he mumbled as a reply. I nodded and eyed him softly. That cute little incubus... He seemed to enjoy my company a lot, his wings moved a bit in the rhythm of his breath. I ran my fingers through his insanely smooth hair. I swear, this guy could go to a fashion gala and win the prize for smoothest hair on the planet. There were no knots, nothing, despite what happened! Jubilea let out a deep purr when I did that. He seemingly enjoyed this as well, melting into my touch. I kept that up for a long time before slowing down, frowning sadly. At this point, I had reached a time to ask what happened to Xander. But I didn't want to destroy our peaceful moment either... Jubilea frowned slightly and raised his head, watching my expression. "What's wrong?", he asked softly. I rubbed over the back of my neck as he sat up. "Jubilea...", I started, uneasy. What if this is the wrong time...? He kept looking at me expectantly until I finally sighed. "Did something happen before Xander grew this... Aggressive? Please think about it and try to remember, everything can help now, even if it's just about a fight or something embarrassing. We can't keep doing this for long..." Jubilea stayed quiet for a while, staring into the fire. "There... was a man with him shortly before shit hit the fan.", he finally admitted. "A man?", I asked. He nodded. "Yeah. I think he called him Adon, but I didn't see him. I was hiding behind a wall, trying to listen to their conversation. Which failed miserably...", he admitted, growing embarrassed. I tensed up a bit. "Adon...? He was over at your place? Did he have a ton of powers?" "Well, I did manage to feel his presence as if I was just standing right next to him?" That was enough to make me grow really worried. He's the last thing I need right now... I kept Jub close, sighing. "Everything will be okay. Right now we need to concentrate on you and Xander, getting Notch will still take a long time.", I explained. Jub gladly agreed yawning slightly. "Sounds like a plan...", he mumbled quietly. I needed a few moments before giggling. "Tired, eh?" He glanced at me, a slight grin sneaking onto his lips. "I don't know, am I?", he replied smoothly. We chuckled a bit before I leaned back. "Well, if so, feel free to use me as a pillow, I should be comfy enough.", I offered. Jub nodded and lied down next to me, putting his head onto my lap. I watched softly as he closed his eyes. "Goodnight, Jay.", he mumbled before dozing off. In a tender fashion I ran a hand through his hair, smiling. "Rest well, Jubilea. You need it after all that happened..." The rest of the night went by rather silently, only source of noise were the fireplace and the snoring coming from the tents.
