(We've got some juicy backstory now UwU)

We left the crack with Jub's help, teleporting home now that we could. This time we couldn't just randomly fall into holes in the ground and break our necks.
I gently held Notch's hand, not letting go at all. Notch didn't let go either, clinging to my hand.
The exit out of the crack seemed agonizing for him, tho with Nighty giving him a hard shove he got through. Didn't change that he was heavily dazed afterwards.
We arrived at our home, heading inside. None of us expected to run into Jerry, Shadow and the children. Or a man that was with them, casually smoking a cigarette in the living room.
Jerry tilted her head, a bit surprised. "I hadn't expected you for another 2 weeks.", she said. I hesitated a bit. I wouldn't mind if anyone else said that, but why her...?
"We teleported here.", Nightmare answered her question. She eyed him a bit before nodding. "Still, I didn't expect that.", she repeated before shrugging. "Anyway. This is Antonio. He'll stay here for a while, I want to try something."
Our looks turned to the new guy, who put his cigarette out and got up, coming over.
Somehow I immediately got a weird, bad vibe from him, backing off slightly. His golden eyes pierced me, curious over my reaction. Eventually he trailed them over the others, but on Hero he paused, frowning slightly.
He started to smile once done. "Hello. I'm Antonio. I'm 27, and Jerry called me in to check out Henory.", he explained.
I looked at Jerry, frowning. "Are you serious?", I asked. She shrugged, sighing. "I just want to try something, Jay. Trust me."
I sighed weakly. "Fine."
Jura smiled and leaned onto Antonio. "He seems like a cool guy. I think he'll be okay.", he told us, confident.
I didn't like the thought of this guy being here, and judging by Hero's look, he didn't either. That stare Antonio gave him really sent him into a bit of a fighting stance. But we had no choice, none of us could go up against Jerry without strong evidence.
Antonio patted Juras' back, smiling. "Thank you. I won't be much trouble to you. I'll merely watch over Henory, take care of his wounds and follow Jerry's commands.", he hummed.
We agreed, with Hero looking miserable and me hating this, but we at least got on a path that lead us further.
I brought Notch to my room while Nighty put Henory to the infirmary. The demon seemed anything but sure with what's happening. Jerry's confidence was off-putting and extremely rare. Which made it even worse.
I sighed weakly and sat down on our bed, putting Notch onto my lap. He leaned onto my shoulder, curling up in my arms. We stayed quiet for quite a while, enjoying the silence. Notch trailed his eyes over our room, not showing many emotions.
"How many times?", he eventually asked quietly. I looked at him, confused. "How many times what?"
"How many times did you and Evander...? In our bed...?"
I hesitated. "Too many times, honestly...", I mumbled silently. He frowned before pulling his tail closer. "Tell me your backstory.", he demanded.
Kind of glad about the change in topic, I laid down and sighed, keeping him on top of me. "It's... A long story.", I whispered. "But a promise is a promise."
Notch got comfy on my chest, watching me.
"A long time ago I was born in TWOR, a place very, very far away from here. There was a war going on, one that threatened to destroy my town and leave nothing of it behind. I don't know my parents, they disappeared shortly after my fourth birthday, so I had to take care of myself. Not exactly an easy task, especially considering the war. Everyone that wasn't in the army and didn't pick a side to fight on immediately got caught and executed. Not even children were spared. I had to fight my way through life with no one by my side. Roughly at 19 I somehow slipped into the military and became one of the higher officials, where I met Adon. We were good partners. Kept each others backs free, protected what was ours."
"So basically what every soldier does?"
"Basically, but we knew we could trust each other. There was another official called Nathaniel. He was basically a child to Adon, who used to be a very pleasant guy to be around. We could sit down as a trio, sip some gin, smoke some cigars and talk about whatever troubled us.
One night during one of those talks Nathan admitted that he was scared, something that everyone was, however stayed silent about. Adon tried to calm him down, but Nathan kept pushing until it was too much for me and I told him to shut up. We were scared enough, we didn't need him to make us even more scared. Adon didn't like that, scolding me for my words. I didn't say anything about that, knowing better than to fight with Adon in order to preserve our friendship.
A few days later, during a fight near a cliff, Nathan slipped and almost fell into the abyss. I managed to catch him, but he couldn't hold himself for long. Before I managed to pull him up, he let go. I couldn't hold him all by myself, my grip wasn't exactly strong, so he fell into the abyss. Adon had watched that and, as soon as the fight was over, accused me of killing him due to having a grudge against him. That accusation turned into a massive argument that got us both fired from our job. I had to leave the military camp site and pulled myself back into a not so harshly hit city far away from the fighting grounds. Adon left too, but with a massive hate against me. So he headed to the Farlands, mourning in peace.
A few years passed and Zephyr showed up. First time we noticed that was because the townsfolk were slowly getting slaughtered, one after another. A bit later however we saw the main culprit, because he set a fire trap around a young man. The fire started and the man was caught in there, but we managed to save him and I too him in. That was how Red and me met.
Red got attached to me really quickly, tho was still scared of me. I raised him into an adult, meeting Jura along the way in a more or less accident. He teleported into my house and I smacked him unconscious with a frying pan. He was pissed when he woke up, but after a bit of talking and figuring out that he had been on an adventure for a long time, I allowed him to stay. He and Red grew into friends. The longer we stayed tho, the more uneasy I got. The town got more and more empty and eventually everyone was gone, so I used the wood from their huts as fire wood. From wandering traders I eventually learnt about the old prophecy. I decided that it was best if Jura knew, but Red didn't. Well, that was a mistake. I played it too unsafe and eventually Red was determined to find out. As his dad and protector I had no other choice but to accept, under the circumstance I'd come with him. And that's how we got into this mess in the first place.", I explained.
Notch softly frowned, deep in thoughts. I tilted my head, worried he wouldn't believe me.
"But how did you know Xander?", he eventually asked. I shrugged slightly. "I think he showed up like twice during the war, leading the other side. Y'know, the typical "This is my place where I rule" typa' shit."
He slowly nodded, snuggling into my chest. "I see. Thanks.", he mumbled. A bit surprised I looked at him. "For what?", I asked.
"Telling me your story. Must be hard."
"That sounds sarcastic."
"No, it's not. I'm just really exhausted."
I paused before nodding. "Right, sorry. I didn't notice that."
"It's okay.", Notchy replied, yawning. "We need to change the bedsheets tho." I frowned. "What? Why?"
"I'm burning those. I don't want to see a single thing that this insufferable asshole has touched."
I snorted softly, but nodded and kissed his cheek. "Alright. Then let's get to it."
