My state was... Considerably miserable. Sure, there have been times where I was significantly worse, usually when I was under attack. But this time was... Awful. I was in a lot of pain, constantly sweaty and overall uncomfortable. The bed was the only thing that made my situation any better. I weakly leaned against the pillows, right now only wearing a hospital gown and my boxers. Not exactly the best. I felt humiliated, staring tiredly out of the window to somehow distract myself. Nightmare's castle, lovingly addressed as "their home", was a pretty nice place. The view was great and I felt the warm sunshine on my aching body, relaxing my painfully tense muscles. I yawned weakly and snuggled into the comfortable blanket. A doctor kept checking in on me every once in a while to ensure I'd be okay and to change my bandages. For some odd reason they were really worried about my scars. I didn't really understand why, neither did I want to. This was way above my level of interests. Plus I didn't want to panic because of whatever gruesome things that are gonna happen due to them. Honestly, all I wanted was my peace and quiet. There was another guy that kept coming in and looking after me. From what I can see his name is Antonio. He's 27 years old and seems like a rather chill guy. Even tho his background confuses me. 'Multiple counts of murder' Hm... Maybe it's still because of the war, but then it wouldn't be mentioned like that. I didn't bother thinking about that. All that I knew and wanted to know is that this guy was really hot. Like, damn. We haven't talked a lot up until now, but I'd let him smash. Or whatever the youngsters say nowadays. A doctor came in and examined me. I didn't really talk a lot, only replied to the questions asked. Afterwards I was back to being silent, letting the doctor do his work. He eventually left and I could go back to staring out the window and thinking. It's kind of funny. I kidnapped Notch from the hall, was a bitch towards everyone and overall cruel, and yet they took me in and took care of me like nothing ever happened. They were mostly nice wherever someone came in, greeted me and say bye before leaving again. Turns out the infirmary was shockingly busy. Notch came in every once in a while to check on my condition, wondering when I'll be able to turn him back human. This could take a long time, but they tried their best to help me as much as possible. I was really thankful for that. Talking about visitors, Nightmare finally showed his face. Oddly enough I had been looking forward to this. Maybe because he was the owner of this place. Or maybe it was because of the family part. I looked over, sitting up a bit. "Stay down, Henory. You're still weak.", Nightmare hummed. I nodded slightly and relaxed. "I know, it just feels odd, constantly lying around like that.", I answered. He chuckled, sitting down next to me. "I know that feeling. You start getting restless, right? You just wanna get up and run again, fight against whatever evil there is." "Wasn't that what you and Mom always did? Run around, destroy everything that fucked with the Realm you two ruled?" "Basically, yeah.", Nighty agreed. "I must admit, he was one hell of a fighter. If he still is or no, is another question. I honestly don't know. And unlike a few years ago, I don't really wanna challenge him again." I tilted my head. "It's a bit more than 'a few years', you do know that? I had to save your ass like 23 times in between because you can't stop playing the hero, just because you lack the ability to die forever.", I muttered. Nighty giggled and nudged me. "I know, I know. I'm just saying. I wouldn't get into a fight with your mother again. He still doesn't know you're his son, you know?", he added. I sighed weakly, scratching my head. "I mean, we don't look anything alike, but still. The aura should be strong enough." "His aura lost its strength. It used to be significantly stronger." "Oh?" A bit surprised I looked at him. "Realms can do that?" "Can do that? I wouldn't say that. More like, he was forced to. Considering the attempted murder after Pietro put a bounty in his head?" I slowly nodded before pausing. "Can I ask you something?", I started. Nighty chuckled. "I don't know, can ya?", he teased. A bit annoyed I stuck my tongue out at him, but was nonetheless amused. "But in all seriousness.", he hummed, smiling. "Go ahead." "Why did you take the bounty and try to kill Mom?" A long pause followed. Nighty stared at the ground, seemingly trying to helplessly think of a reply. "I... I still owed Pietro something. They made me into what I am, taught me and supported me throughout my life. So I couldn't say no. Even tho I probably should've.", he answered after a while. I sighed a bit. "He never appeared in any of the judgements. He was near me for a very long time, seemingly lost. You stabbing him ripped him off of his path and tossed him into the wilderness. No wonder Xander is able to control him that easily. He's definitely the more dominant one of them. Even the wildest animal has to obey to the leader." He nodded and sighed. "Maybe it was a mistake, but it was a necessary one.", he mumbled. We stayed quiet for a while before Nightmare got up. "I assume that my time here is over. I'll head back to Zephyr and the others.", he explained. I nodded tiredly. "Sounds good, I'll try to sleep for a bit ", I replied quietly. Nighty softly ruffled my hair. "Sleep well." With that he left, allowing me to rest a bit. Which is exactly what I did. I laid my head onto the pillow and closed my tired eyes, letting out a deep yawn. It took a long time before I finally feel asleep, completely exhausted.
