There was something going on above us. I hadn't allowed Henory to leave the bed. We attempted to get up and move together, but he had immediately collapsed into my arms, so now he's bedridden. I kept taking care of him, attempting to get him back to health. But each day his strength faded more and more, until he was only a weak pile of misery on the sheets. I tried my best to clean out the wounds, but this proved harder than expected. He didn't have a lot of medical equipment here and whatever was left in the small infirmary of this castle was either unusable or useless. This was bad. No one showed up, no matter how hard I tried to get them here. I attempted to forcefully knock out Hero, but that plan failed. Red and Jura completely failed their assignment of knocking him out for whatever reason. Either because of fear or they just forgot. I sighed weakly and pulled my tail close, watching Henory. He was sleeping a lot lately, by now he was only barely reacting to me waking him up so he can eat. As much of an asshole as he is, I needed to help him. I felt awful for him, he's so fragile... I'm not sure why I care that much. Maybe because a part of this weakness hits so close home to me, and the cuts made it feel even more worrying... Henory whined and curled up, seemingly cold. I had taken off his clothes and put him into something lighter and less bloody. Which resulted in a reaper dressed in a now oversized shirt and a pair of pyjama pants. Definitely not the best mix, but it was all that we could currently use. He didn't have a lot of options in his wardrobe and I figured something like this would make changing bandages much easier. Subconsciously I ran my hand through his hair, brushing it back. He had a high fever from the infected wounds, every attempt of lowering it seemed to fail at its job. I dearly hoped someone would just find us and help us. But judging by the sounds coming from above us, the faint screams and the sound of heavy footsteps I was less hopeful. At some point everything stopped and I relaxed. Henory seemed to calm down a bit until a loud crash filled the new silence and everything shook. In surprise and fear I pulled the sick male close so he was halfway on my lap, there was no way I'd be able to escape with him in time. Debris fell past the windows and fell to the ground, indicating that this place was collapsing. Things went much quicker than I expected and before I could react the ceiling crumbled and caved in. All I could do was keep Henory as close to me as possible and pray for the best. ... ... ... Everything stopped as quickly as it started. Our surroundings went quiet, only the slight rumbling of the remaining pieces of debris crumbling down broke the sudden silence. I opened my eyes in surprise, not having known I had closed them, and looked around. There was no pain, so what was going on? A faint dome of light surrounded us, having kept the castle off of us. Even tho the dome had multiple cracks in it, most likely from the impact, it held strong up against the tons of stone and wood on top of it. A bit confused I eyed it before looking at Henory. This wasn't my doing after all. His wings were slightly glowing, even tho it was really faint. He didn't really seem to notice that he was doing this, nor did he realize that he was getting weaker and weaker by doing this. His breath got really raspy already and he didn't look good. I sighed tiredly and rubbed over his head, helpless. We wouldn't be able to leave without any help, and I doubt that anyone would find us here. I can't call for help with someone finally reacting and coming to our aid. Closing my eyes, I pulled Henory closer. He snuggled up to me, not dropping the spell. That made me confused. "Henory-", I started, but he just threw me an exhausted glance. "It's okay...", he mumbled. "It could be much worse..." "How?" "I don't know... All I know is that there's worse than that, but I never went through anything worse...", he chuckled tiredly. Henory got worse by the second, his eyes were starting to close slowly. I gently slapped him, trying to keep him awake. "Stay awake, don't leave me here alone...", I whimpered, growing scared. Henory weakly chuckled. "You're begging to not be left alone... And yet you did this to your husband..." I paused before lowering my head. "I... I know... I regret it... Maybe this is my punishment, unable to get help for you even tho you need it, and not being able to get anyone to notice your pain..." A small chuckle escaped me. "Maybe... This is finally it. My endless torture after death will be being stuck here with you, a reaper I thought was an asshole... But this isn't the truth, is it? You're not an asshole... I was too blind to see that you tried to prevent me from getting worried about you. And now look at me, keeping you close while you're in this state, yet you still need to keep us safe... God I'm fucking pathetic, I can't even keep us safe...", I whispered, tears running down my cheeks. This hurt a lot... Henory didn't say anything, causing me to glance at him. He was limp in my arms, breathing lowly. The energy he used to keep us safe was slowly draining him, but I couldn't do anything anymore. The little cave he built started crumbling, stones dropping from the ceiling. I kept Henory close and shut my eyes, trembling. Funny, I wasn't scared when I committed suicide... A loud screech could be heard outside before a bunch of claws broke through the debris, breaking it away. My eyes shot open and I watched in surprise as something freed us.
