Nightmare carried me for the rest of the day, so I could pretty clearly see the unhappiness in Xander's eyes. He didn't dare hurt the realm killer tho, not sure what he could do. He had no clue that Nightmare was so weak currently that he couldn't even cause much damage. He was a tired old man that had nothing much to do other than attempt to move without falling over.
Which worked shockingly well today, I have to admit. He didn't stumble or trip even once, except for once when a root got in the way, but he caught himself before anyone had to help.
I hid in his shoulder, taking a deep breath of his scent. Still the same, vanilla and birch.
His favorite flavor and his favorite tree.
I smiled weakly since those were mine too, relaxing. "You know what would be good now?", I whispered tiredly. He hummed, listening. "A coffee."
"Which one?", he asked. I just chuckled.
"The usual."
"What's the usual then?"
"A caramel latte, half coffee, half stirred, hot milk. A bit of cocoa powder on top, a squirt of the caramel syrup in the middle, gently stirred and slightly sweetened with sugar. Also nice and hot, a cookie on the side, as well as a sugar cube on the left, the cream garnished with a pocky stick, chocolate side down so it can mix with the caramel."
He snorted and laughed quietly. "Still a picky eater, huh?", he asked. I smiled weakly and nodded. "You know me, always picky with everything."
"But that is the only thing you told me."
I hesitated for a bit, not sure how to say it without Xander immediately hearing it. So I just thought it, knowing he could mindread.
"I didn't know how to, he would've immediately found out. I'm too scared of that, he found out my weaknesses, that's enough agony for me.", I thought. Nightmare understood and nodded, nuzzling me a bit to soothen me.

After what felt like an entire day Jay stopped at a clearing, plopping his bag down. "We'll rest here for tonight.", he announced. Everyone immediately agreed, relieved they get to settle down finally.
"I gotta put you down now, Jub, to build up my tent. Are you gonna be fine?", Nightmare ripped me out of my thoughts. I perked up and looked at him, growing slightly nervous before nodding. "Yeah, that's fine. I don't have to build up anything tonight luckily.", I replied and unwrapped myself from his hips. He surprisingly gently lowered me onto my feet and put his bag down to get to building.
The problem now however was that I had to go to Xander, I needed my jacket. So I bit into the sour apple and went over to him, tensing up a lot.
He glanced over before getting up and coming to me, pulling me into a hug. I bit my lip and tried to stay quiet, not hugging back for a while until he caressed my back. Only then I slowly raised my arms and returned the embrace, biting my lip.
He rubbed over my lower back. "I shouldn't have acted like this, I'm sorry, Jubilea. I don't know what is going on, I just sort of lost control...", he mumbled quietly. I sniffed a bit. "You don't just change, Xander, and you know that. This isn't the first time you pull this kind of shit.", I mumbled. He visibly felt bad, but nodded slightly. "I know. I don't want to do this again. Please don't keep me alone in this tent tonight, it'll be lonely.", he begged quietly. I sighed. "The night watch isn't my choice Xander and you are aware of that. I only want to help them as much as possible, that's my job as a realm. But that doesn't work if you terrify me like this. Breaking me once was enough, finding out everything about my weaknesses is awful, but using them against me instead of helping me? That kills the camel!", I protested, breaking the hug. He looked into my eyes, understanding my anger. So he nodded and put his forehead against mine. "Alright, Jubilea. This won't happen again, I'll fight against whatever caused this.", he promised. I relaxed ever so slightly, nodding. "You better do so.", I whispered. Xander pulled me close and hugged me for a long time. Jay and Nightmare were closely watching us, I could feel their eyes burn into my skin. I bit my lower lip in uncomfortableness and hid in his chest.
I wasn't sure if I could trust his words. But unlike last time, he seemed genuine. So I had no choice but to give it a shot.
Also, not like I could do much against it now, distancing myself right now was impossible.
I let go of him and walked around, helping wherever I could. Jura for example needed a ton of help, struggling with the tent. Centi helped him as well, tho started to grow frustrated. I eyed them for a bit before sighing. "Uhm, Jura?", I asked softly. He looked over. "What?", he grumbled. I opened my hand to receive the tent. He raised an eyebrow, but handed it over. I just opened a small rope on the side and dropped the tent, where it immediately built itself up.
There was an awkward silence between us as he and Centi stared at the finished tent. "W-We will pretend this never happened! ^^;", Centi shyly whispered, insanely embarrassed. I nodded, smiling a bit and scratching the back of my neck. "Y-Yeah, maybe for the best.", I agreed, chuckling a bit. Jura nodded slowly and just got to putting the hooks into the ground, was too shy to reply.
I giggled and continued walking around until Hero came up to me. "Hey, Jubilea?", he asked. I tuned to him.
"Xander asked if you could look for sticks with him, he's gonna come over in a few minutes."
I tilted my head slightly, but nodded. "Yeah, sure. For the fire, right?" I felt stupid asking that question, noticing way too late how irrelevant it was.
Hero didn't mention it tho, nodding. "Yeah, dry sticks.", he added.
"Alright, will do."
"Thanks."
With that he left, heading back to Red. I watched as he did so, thoughtful.
