We headed through the hallways, not daring to say a word for a long time. Now that we had gone through that door, we noticed just how surreal and, more importantly, how silent everything in here was. That's not exactly normal...
Nighty got uneasy after a while and kept checking our coordinates. "We're so close to the crack...", he mumbled. "But I don't remember there being a building here. What about you, Jub?"
I scratched my head. "Honestly... Neither.", I replied. "I doubt Pietro would just allow anyone to build something over the entrance. He keeps checking on this place to ensure its still open, and the crack needs a free path to the clouds. Otherwise we wouldn't be able to get from here to the Hall of Realms." "There's a hall for you guys??", Centi asked, looking up as if he could see it through the tons and tons of stone, metal and quartz. I giggled. "A secondary home, yes. It holds sleeping quarters, a big kitchen and dining room, a massive meeting room for our annual realm meetings, a few rooms that act as our rooms for the documents that aren't supposed to leave the hall, a big and nice hallway with a fountain, a place for Manticora and Serena, our Seraph, to sleep... Oh, and let's not forget the most important thing: The rooms for the victims, leading up to the judgement hall!", I explained cheerfully. Jay frowned softly. "The hall is bigger than what I saw...?"
"Yip, and it's carried by the stars!"
"Wait, for real?", Jura asked, shocked. I nodded. "Yeah, it's mainly carried by stars and nebulas. With a bit of magic that's possible, however every year the hall moves a bit. Which always ends up with Mirko and Collin in the fountain." Jura snorted softly at that and we continued on our way, less tense now. Jay seemed to get more and more cheerful the closer we got to the crack. He really wanted to see his husband.
I can't blame him, neither did I want to. Much like Jay was a father figure for Red, Notch was mine. I... Don't remember my parents. After the white room incident, I forgot a lot of my childhood. Pietro said that this was most likely the best, but I'm not so sure. It feels like something of me is missing, but I can't place my finger on what exactly it is.
I softly rubbed over my face before pausing when the others stopped. There was a visible force field in front of us, a hole just barely big enough for a child to climb through to our left. Nighty eyed the force field a bit, touching it. "We're not getting through that.", he established and turned to us. Jay frowned softly. "So we're not gonna reach Notch?", he asked, uneasy.
"Unless we find a way through there, no."
Hollow eyed the hole in the wall, looking through it. "I can see a control panel on the other side.", he informed us. "However this is very sturdy rock, we're not getting through there. Unless..." He turned to me, the smallest and thinnest of the group. The others eyed me as well, and only now did I realize what they wanted. "No.", I growled. "This is way underneath my pride."
"Please?", Centi whined. "You perfectly fit through there! Plus we need to get through that forcefield. The coordinates are a bit behind it!"
I crossed my arms. "This is absolutely humiliating!", I protested. "And who says that this plan is going to work??"
Centi gave me puppy eyes and they tried to convince me, but I wouldn't budge. Crawling through vents is one thing, but through a hole in the wall?? I'm a realm, not a mouse!
After a ton of of begging and puppy eyes I reluctantly groaned. "You guys better not mention this to anyone!", I hissed before putting my backpack down. Xander took it and my jacket so I wouldn't get stuck. A bit annoyed I grabbed the sides of the hole and stepped onto the edge. This thing really was tight and uncomfortable as I crawled my way through the wall, jumping out on the other side. There was the control panel with a switch. A bit unsure I flicked it, waiting for a reaction. A weird buzzing sound filled the silence before Red grinned. "The force field fell! You can come back!", he explained. With a small grumble I climbed back into the hole. This was by far the most uncomfortable part of this adventure to me. But by this point I was basically their only hope, so I had to comply.
Hero and Zephyr helped me back out so I wouldn't fall out and onto my face, and I put my jacket back on. "You owe me after this. This was the entire reason you took me with you, right? So I can climb my small ass through tiny holes and vents!", I protested. Nighty scratched the back of his neck. "Weeeeell...", he started, but I interrupted him with a huff. "That was rhetorical, I already know that this is the case.", I grumbled. Nighty giggled sheepishly and we went on our way. I put on my backpack and went after them.
The further we went, the more I started noticing a very familiar feeling. The Crack was very nearby, the aura was suffocating, even for me. Nighty started to notice it too, he wasn't used to this, so he visibly slowed down. Zeph was surprised, but soon they knew what this meant.
We turned a corner and finally were hit with the cold air of the night. I hadn't realized that we were walking for this long, but it made sense. We had been going for a long time now...
A few more steps and we finally spotted the Crack. A massive cave, flooded with black smoke. Above us the roof was missing, the hall we stood in displayed the starry sky above us.
As stunning as this view was, it couldn't stop me from noticing the presence of three people. I looked over at the Crack, growling lowly.
"Hello, Jubilea~"
"Sylvie, Evan... And Adon...", I muttered.
Evan just grinned, all giddy that he finally got to go up against us. This wasn't gonna end well...
