[Mija, there's someone important going to the company tomorrow, do you think you can cut your vacation short?] tanong ni Papa mula sa phone. Yung boses niya humihina nang humihina lalo na sa last part dahil alam niya siguro na maiirita ako.

I was easy to irritate when it came to work pero kaya ko naman makipag-usap nang mahinahon so I don't know why he felt scared. Hindi ko naman siya kakagatin.

I closed my eyes before letting out a sigh, napatingin tuloy ang aking mga kaibigan na nakaupo sa tabi ko.

We were at a restaurant right now and we just got back from parasailing. After eating, we were going to do more activities kaya excited kaming lahat, so how am I going to tell them that I had to leave early?

Theo looked at me with a concerned look in his eyes, asking me if everything was okay. I gave them all an apologetic smile before excusing myself from the table, mamaya ko nalang iku-kwento sa kanila.

"Hello, dad. Gaano ba siya ka-importante?" I asked with furrowed eyebrows. "I'm kindof... taking a break diba?" 

[Yes but... She's really important, okay? I need you work on the project yourself. It's a big project anak, I need you as a head.]

I sighed before chewing on my lip. Nagulat ako nang lumabas din si Theo, he gave me a small smile before answering a call.

Mga ilang segundo ko pinag-isipan, I also considered a lot of things. I'll miss a few activities and I won't be around to bond with the others pero... It's work.

"Okay, I'll go." I closed my eyes shut as I answered, knowing that I can't go back once I agreed.

I never really expected this week to go so perfectly. Hindi ko rin in-expect na makukumpleto ko ang isang linggo na ito nang hindi ako nagta-trabaho. So it's fine, I can ask for another leave next time, sana.

Dad let out a sigh of relief kaya bahagya naman akong napangiti. If he's this relieved then it must be a really big deal. [I'll book you a flight na, mija. Thank you so much.]

"Okay... Love you." 

[Love you, mija. I'll need you here by tomorrow afternoon so your flight's going to be in the morning. Is that okay?] he carefully asked.

"Yes, it's okay. I'll just try doing everything today." I joked, making him awkwardly laugh.

[I'm sorry, I promise you can come back when things aren't so busy. This is just really important to the company.] sabi niya, malungkot ang kanyang boses.

I smiled sadly when I saw Theo looking upset because of the phone call he was taking. "It's fine, dad. Work is work. I'll see you tomorrow."

We greeted each other goodbye bago ako bumalik sa table. Nakita ko rin na nandoon na si Theo and it looks like he was delivering bad news to the table. Same vibes kami.

"Mon, uuwi na raw bukas si Theo!" sumbong sa akin ni Justin kaya napalingon ako sa Theo who was looking at me with pursed lips.

Huh.

Nginitian ko silang lahat, amused because of the coincidence. "Ako rin uuwi na bukas." I announced to the table kaya natigilan sila.

Their glares went from Theo to me kaya natawa ako sa reaksyon nilang lahat. "Dad's calling me, something important sa work." I explained before taking a seat.

"Hmm.. Same. Should we go together?" pag-suggest niya, making our friends raise their eyebrows. 

Hindi ko sila pinansin at tumango ako habang nakangiti. "Sounds good." Atleast hindi ako mag-isang uuwi.
