Theodore

I already knew she wasn't going to come.

So why was I still waiting for her?

Every moment that passes I kept hoping for someone to poke my arm. I waited for her message telling me to wait for her, dadating siya. She was just running late.

Pero wala. She lied again, and I should've known that she did.

When our names were called for the second time, that's when I sighed and stood up. Naglakad na ako papunta sa gate and I smiled apologetically at the attendant who was up front.

She isn't coming.

I carried my bag to the plane, walking slowly because deep inside, I knew I was still hoping.

It wasn't until the plane started to move that I accepted it.

It was the end of the both of us.

I was about to put my phone on airplane mode but I stopped when I saw her smiling face on my screen.

And I remembered how close I held her that night. I realized that I shouldn't have let her go, I should have known that that was the last time.

Maybe if I had known, I would have told her that I loved her a lot more.

I sadly smiled before turning my phone off.

These next few years will be filled with remembrance and longing, I just knew. Alam ko rin na kahit ano pang mangyari, I will always be waiting for her.

Her happiness would be enough to give me comfort, and I know that somewhere out there, she was shining and would soon come back to me for another day.

"Theo, pre!" Tawag ng isang blockmate ko.

We were going to head out for drinks later, kakatapos lang ng midterms namin and we needed to de-stress. "Send ko nalang loc, uwi muna ako puta natatae ako."

I chuckled before nodding my head, wishing him luck as well.

I felt my phone vibrating inside my pocket and after a few rings, nasagot ko na ang tawag ni Tati. I grew worried when I heard sniffing on the other line. "What happened??"

"K-kuya, he slapped me." She said before sobbing and I felt anger rushing through my veins.

"Pack your bags." Pinatay ko agad ang tawag and quickly made my way towards my car.

"Theo." A familiar voice called. It looks like she ran after me.

I pursed my lips and tried my best to smile. "I need to go, hindi ako makakasama mamaya, I'm sorry."

"Wala akong kasabay papunta dun..." She hesitantly said and I couldn't help but feel guilty. I agreed to take her when she asked me to, natatakot raw siya mag-commute mag-isa.

I thought for a second and from the distance, I saw one of my friends. "Do you trust me?" Tanong ko kay Mel and she immediately nodded her head.

Tinawag ko yung kaibigan ko and he smiled as he walked towards the two of us. "Pre, favor." Saad ko at tinaasan niya kaagad ako ng kilay.

"Pa hatid lang si Mel kay Vin." I continued, making Mel's eyebrows furrow. "Nagka-emergency lang kasi pre, sorry."

I tapped my foot impatiently and Mel seemed to notice as she looked disappointed now. "Sige, pre." Pag-agree ng kaibigan ko, making me smile.
