I woke up panting as I heard the the chime of the plane. I started breathing heavily, bringing a look of worry to Theo's face.
He pulled me into a hug to try to calm me down and I didn't even realize that tears were already falling down from my eyes.
No no no no no no no no. I thought as he wiped away my tears. "Shh..." He said before caressing my hair. "I'm here... what's wrong?"
My teeth chattered as I stared into his eyes. "I was.. drowning, Theo." I muttered against his chest when he pulled me closer to him.
I was drowning again. No matter how better I felt, these dreams would never stop haunting me, they would never stop chasing me, and they were always there.
The waves would always run after me in my dreams, no matter how far I was.
It would always be the same dream that would take me back to square one, it would always come to be some sort of reminder for me. Reminder how a few years back, I was the reason why the person I loved drowned.
It's not my fault, it's not my fault, it's not my fault, I chanted inside my head and the whole time, Theo was there whispering sweet nothings to my ear.
I stayed in his arms until I had calmed down and that familiar scent of his helped comforting me. "You're okay..." he whispered as he rubbed my back.
I'm okay.
It's not my fault.
I'm okay.
"Does that... happen a lot?" tanong niya nang naramdaman niyang huminahon na ako. I nodded against his chest in response, my eyes closed. "How are you these past few years?"
Bahagya akong napangiti. "I'm getting better." sagot ko, walang bahid ng pagsisinungaling sa aking boses because I felt like I was. I truly felt like I was.
"Sometimes the past would just come to haunt me, but I'm getting better." Pag-reassure ko sakanya and I felt him nod.
None of us spoke about what had happened last night. That got me wondering whether he felt like it was a mistake. I didn't know why I was overthinking though, ako naman yung tumigil sa pag-halik sa kanya.
"Why did you run away?" he asked, making me sigh dahil alam kong kailangan kong sagutin yun, I didn't have anywhere to run to. I was also seated sa window kaya hindi ako makapunta sa banyo.
"I don't know..." I answered at napaiwas ako ng tingin nang maalala ko ang nangyari sa amin.
My eyes were closed shut as our lips moved against each other and they widened once I realized what I was doing.
Putangina.
I pushed him away to see his shocked face at habang hindi pa siya nakakapag salita, dun ako tumakbo pabalik sa aming my kaibigan, leaving him there dumbfounded.
"Hey... Who called you? May bad news ba ulit?" tanong sa akin ni Riley when she saw my flushed face.
"U-um. Wala. Just the project dun sa Subic." She slowly nodded her head but napakunot ang noo niya when she saw Theodore behind me.
Dali dali akong umupo sa gitna nina Riley at Daphne and they had a smirk on my face as they saw the blush that were forming on my cheeks.
"You're telling us later." Daphne whispered to my ear before giving me a stick of barbecue to munch on.
The rest of the night, Theo grew upset and I understood why; it was because I ignored him the whole time. Hanggang ngayon nagtatampo pa rin siya sa akin, ikaw ba naman ang iwasan katapos kang halikan.
