Chapter 8

Doc. Neil Hudson pov.

"Dead on Arrival Doc. Neil, pinatawagan ko na si Doc. Athena sa Bahay nila, sabi ng katulong on the way na daw dito." sabi ni doc. Sarah

I was speechless, I didn't know what to say, I didn't know how to tell Athena, I just sighed and nodded to them.

I was about to go to the lobby when I saw Athena, running toward the reception area. She was only wearing a simple T-shirt and shorts and the slippers she was wearing indoors had fur designs on them she rushed to the hospital in a hurry.

"How are my parents? what room did they stay in?" Tanong niya sa mga nurse

"A-ahmm doc Athena, a-ano k-kase yung mga magulang niyo po ano--" Nurse Marie answer her

"What? Don't tell me nasa ward lang? Ilagay niyo sa VIP room I can pay!" Sigaw ni Athena

I approached them because the nurses were about to cry, they didn't know how to tell Athena that her parents were in the morgue.

"Ako na dito, magsipagbalik na kayo sa area niyo" sabi ko sa mga nurse

"Doc. Neil, how's my mom and dad?" Athena turned her face to me

"Athena, ihahatid kita sa kanila," I said

We were walking in the hallway when I stopped suddenly, she looked at me with a confused look, and I held her on both shoulders.

"Athena, wag ka mabibigla ah,"

"Ano na naman ba to Neil? Saka na mga panliligaw mo, Kailangan ako ng magulang ko." She thought it was about courting her thingy

"I-It's about your parents, Athena, a-ahmm, D-dead on arrival sila ng dumating dito. Nasa morgue na sila ngayon" I told her

"W-what??! No!! Don't joke around Neil, I swear it's not funny!" She said with tears in her eyes

I didn't know what to say, so I just hugged her. She just cried on my chest while also hugging me, I don't care if my white coat is wet with her tears. I just want to make her feel that I'm here for her.

"B-Bakit nila ako iniwan Neil? Bakit?" She kept whispering in my chest

"Shhh, hindi ka bibigyan ng Diyos ng gantong pagsubok kung di mo kaya," I just trying to reassure her

"Let's go, you need to be strong Athena,  you can do this," I said while kissing her forehead

I held her hand and led her to the morgue. When we arrived at the morgue, she stopped and faced me. Her eyes were swollen and red from crying. You can't see any sadness or anything in her eyes. Blank, no joy or sadness can be read in her eyes. She is hard to read.

"N-Neil, can I go in alone?" She asked me, tears keep falling from her eyes

"Of course, you can. Hihintayin na lang kita dito sa labas" She took a deep breath before entering the morgue

I sat on the chair in the hallway. I feel sorry for Athena, she is the only child of her parents. And I don't even know if she has any other friends. Maybe I'll just take leave here at the hospital to take care of her.

I have been waiting for Athena outside for 15 minutes when some military official arrived. I stood up and asked what they are up to. They said they wanted to talk to Athena. I said that Athena is still inside, they just have to wait. After 5 minutes Athena came out.
