The party was in full swing as KT walked through the crowd, a big smile on her face.
The music was loud, the drinks were cold, and people were having fun. There was a lot of dancing, socializing, and someone had set up a beer pong table; it had all come together to create the perfect party environment. As many of them knew, the canyon was the best place for the teens to have their unsupervised fun, as they could do almost anything they wanted.
KT reached into a cooler and retrieved two beers and two cups. She popped the tabs and poured them, then tossed the cans in the makeshift trash bin they'd made out of the box. She turned around and made her trek back to her friends, smiling wide when she saw Yasmine.
"For the birthday girl," she said, holding one of the drinks out to Yas and the other to Moon.
They took the cups with smiles and clinked them together as if they were holding fancy glasses, causing the three of them to laugh. Yasmine and Moon sipped their drinks and smiled.
Moon laughed, "This is such a cool party."
KT nodded in agreement.
"All thanks to KT," Yas said.
"Oh, it's no big deal."
"Sure it is! You threw an awesome party for my birthday! Come here!"
Yasmine wrapped her in a hug, which KT returned happily, and they both laughed. Moon soon joined the hug and the three of them wore the biggest smiles.
Moon giggled as they parted and looked at KT. "So, are you gonna drink tonight or what?"
"I don't know." KT shrugged, putting her hands into her pockets. "I might later."
As she looked around, she spotted Hawk with a drink in hand. He must have felt her eyes on him because he turned, smirking once their eyes met. She smiled back, then turned to Yasmine. Before she could could a word out, Yas spoke, knowing what she was going to say.
"Go have fun," she laughed, gently pushing her in Hawk's direction. "It's a party after all."
"Yeah, it is!" KT laughed. She threw her arms up in a small fit of excitement. "I'll find you later!"

Hawk had never been to a real high school party. It was loud and exhilarating, but different from a school dance. It was a lot, but he felt like he could just let go and be himself. However, that was a little harder done than said. He thought the alcohol might just help him get through it, but it burned his throat on the way down. So, he was taking it slow, at least on the first drink. He imagined it would get easier after that.
But then his saving grace walked over and he didn't need the beer anymore.
KT wrapped her arms around his waist and laid her chin on his chest. She giggled, "Having fun?"
"Now I am," he told her, wrapping his arm around her. It made her giggle again and he smiled. God, I love her laugh.
She pushed herself up on her toes and pressed a small kiss to the corner of his mouth, brushing his scar in the process. When she pulled back, she smiled at him. "That was a little cheesy."
"Maybe, but it's also the truth," he told her, then sipped his beer. It still burned, but a little less. His face scrunched up, even though he did his best not to let that happen.
KT's angelic laugh filled his ears. She took the cup out of his hand and took a sip from it, having no reaction to the burn whatsoever. She smiled at him when she held the drink out to him.
