The sky was clear, making for the perfect beach day. The sand was warm, the ocean was relaxing, and the fun was amazing. KT couldn't have asked for a better day at the beach with all of her friends. Some had rallied together to play volleyball while others were splashing one another in the water. It looked like so much fun, she almost considered joining them, but herself and Yasmine had other plans for their time on the sand.
After massaging their sunscreen into the skin on their legs, arms and general fronts of their bodies, they gave each other knowing smiles. With the same twinkle in their eyes, they turned to the volleyball nets, where Hawk, Demetri, Moon and Bert were trying to play a game. However, the ball was getting caught in the net more often than not, making it hard to play when it was Demetri's turn to serve and no one else could get the ball.
"Mulligan!"
"There are no mulligan's in volleyball!"
The girls giggled.
There was some banter back and forth before Demetri said, "Water break!" He effectively ended the pointless little argument by walking over to his bag, where he picked up a towel and started wiping his face of sweat.
It was at that moment two girls walked by, stopping when they saw the Cobra Kai logo on the towel. They started talking to Demetri, giving him flirty and impressed smiles. One flipped her hair and batted her eyes, then said something about possibly seeing him later. She told him they were just hanging out not too far from where they were at the moment, pointing to her left to direct him.
Out of the corner of her eye, KT saw Yasmine tense up. She was watching intensely, biting the tip of her thumb as the girls wagged their fingers in goodbye at Demetri while he stood a little dumbstruck. He looked as if he couldn't believe that had just happened.
KT bit her cheek, planning her next words carefully. "They're not gonna see him again."
"You don't know that," Yasmine grumbled, turning away from the scene just as Hawk walked up to Demetri with some questions. "I mean, come on, they practically invited him to their site."
"Yeah, but he's hanging out with us. He wouldn't go anywhere," KT countered. She smiled at her sister in hopes of brightening her mood. "So don't even worry about it."
Yasmine scoffed, tightening her jaw and narrowing her eyes in order to hide her emotions. "I'm not worrying about anything."
"You're jealous," KT teased. She received a glare, but continued speaking before Yasmine could rebuttal or deny the accusation. "You shouldn't be. Especially because Demetri is totally gaga for you."
Yasmine's mask dropped and her eyes widened. "Wait, really?"
"Are you seriously asking me that?"
"Yes, I'm seriously asking you that!"
KT put her face in her hands, shaking her head. Has she really not noticed the way he looks at her? Or how nervous he gets around her? He gets so flustered when he's around her. He literally tutored her almost every day just so she could pass her chem class. How has she not realized this?
"Why would a guy like Demetri like me?"
KT peeked through her fingers before dropping her hands and staring at her sister, halfway between sympathy and annoyance. She wasn't annoyed with Yasmine, but the situation they'd just found themselves in; for months, her and Demetri have been hanging out, but not once had she noticed his feelings for her. It was almost like watching a will-they/won't-they romance that dragged on and on...
I can't let that happen!
"Why wouldn't he?" KT asked, glancing over at Demetri and Hawk.
They appeared to be having a disagreement of some kind, or at the very least Hawk was the only one displeased. He rolled his eyes as Demetri said something, wearing a little grin as he rolled his water bottle between his hands. The Cobra Kai towel was laid over his shoulder casually while they talked.
