Moon's house seemed to be the perfect place for a party. It was big enough to hold dozens of people, the yard was spacious for all sorts of activities, there was even a pool in the backyard with a winding slide. It became even more perfect with sunny weather, loud music playing, and a table full of food for everyone's enjoyment. There was even a machine filling the air with fun, poppable bubbles.
Hawk almost couldn't believe his eyes at the platters set before him, all piled high with all sorts of finger foods, and chocolate fountain surrounded by sweets just waiting to be coated in the melted cacao. However, the most impressive arrangement was the tower of pink and purple cupcakes that led one's eyes up to the top, where a large cupcake sat that read Happy Birthday KT in white icing.
The fun had already begun. People were already splashing in the pool and playing chicken; there was a playlist of pop and upbeat songs playing through the speakers; and someone had already found the beer and started playing drinking games. It was as wild as wild could get at five in the afternoon.
Most of the people in attendance were from their school, but a few went to others due to having met KT through track meets. Everyone Hawk knew was there, from the dojo to the cheer squad. It was as if the party was going to be the best of the summer, even though it was still June and there was still a good bit of summer left, and no one wanted to miss it.
"You guys really went all out," Hawk said, turning to Yasmine as she watched the crowds with a careful eye.
Though it was Moon's house, Yasmine had pretty much taken it upon herself to be the host. It was her sister's birthday after all, so Haw assumed she wanted everything to go perfectly.
She smiled proudly, crossing her arms over her chest. "Nothing but the best for KT."
She spared him a glance and flashed a smile before something else behind him caught her eye.
"Hey! You can't pour beer in that!" she shouted. She gave Hawk a look, then passed him to scold whomever was making her upset. "I didn't buy that for you to waste it!"
Hawk chuckled under his breath, feeling bad for the guy that made such a mistake in front of Yasmine. However, his amusement was cut short when he spotted Moon and KT walking out of the house in their party attire; Moon in a simple blueish-green dress with strappy sandals and KT wearing a glittering party dress. He couldn't help but lick his lips as he got an eyeful of his girlfriend, from the tip of her sparkling tiara to her bright smile and all the way down her legs.
When KT's eye found him among the partygoers, she squealed his name and ran over. Despite wearing cute, Mary-Jane style shoes with a heel, she was fast. He managed to prepare himself in time and catch her in his arms, smiling at her as he pulled her close to him.
"Hey, baby," he said before pecking her lips. It made her giggle, which caused his chest to swell up rather pridefully. "Happy birthday."
"Thank you," she laughed lightly, wrapping her arms around his neck.
No more words needed to be said as she gently puckered her lips, silently asking for another kiss. He happily granted her wish and tilted his head, swooping in to capture her lips in a sweet but heavy kiss. Her hands came to lay on the back of his neck, her knuckles tickled by the last few hairs of his mohawk, while his rested on her lower back, holding her close and dear.
When they broke apart, Hawk smiled at her, seeing the way her eyes shined brightly. It paired well with her big smile. He loved that look, knowing it meant she was incredibly happy. It was the look he wanted to see more often than not, the look he wanted to see for the rest of his life. He would fight tooth and nail to keep her that happy, to keep her smile that big.
