Chapter 10 - Thalasso's Worry

[The two go in their shelter and sit on their hammocks. Lyrinn decides to bring up her missing brother.]

Do you know my brother?

Thalasso
Which one?

Lyrinn
My biological one...

[The mention of Lyrinn's brother silences Thalasso, as if he once had a close relationship with him.]

Lyrinn
Sir?

Thalasso
Sorry... I just...

Lyrinn
You knew him didn't you?

Thalasso
Your brother... was my first love.

Lyrinn
You were his lover?

He looked interesting and unique from everyone. Eventually we fell in love. Though, it was short-lived. Nonetheless, I never thought he would be my first love.

The day before he disappeared, he asked me to keep you safe. He never told me why but I obliged...

Your brother... was the bravest and most caring Skylier I knew. Maybe a bit flirty and very handsome but most of all, he was a brave and caring one. You were a toddler when he had left who tried her hardest to keep him in her memories when you eventually forgot what he looked like. I remember you begged for him to come back but he couldn't. But I know he loved you.

*sigh* It's sad. He was such a young strong person. And to even leave his sister alone was even more painful. He had a reason... I'm sure he did...

To be fair, you did manage to survive your first raid and you've managed to hold off an entire raid on your own before the guards came. Even if I've been in a lot more battles than you, what I've done is nothing compared to what you just done. You also never held a gem in battle.

I'd love to be your sidekick. Plus, maybe I could start to learn how to use gems.

Heh, then it's set.

[Lyrinn notices Thalasso's voice was shaky seemingly if he felt off about something. It was as if he seemed hesitant about taking Lyrinn with him.]

I'll be fine. You go to bed okay?

[Lyrinn hugs Thalasso worried about his current emotional state.]

[Thalasso hugs Lyrinn tighter and starts to breakdown with a fear unknown to many.]

I'm scared... I'm scared to lose you. You're the only thing left of your brother...

I'm not the brave and fearless warrior everyone sees me as... even I'm afraid to lose something so dear to me. I act brave and proud but on the inside, I'm scared of losing someone so dear.

When that raid happened, I wanted to find you so badly but I knew I had to guide the people to safety. When you were safe, I was relieved.

I... didn't know.

I'm sorry... I'm so hesitant about bringing you with me because I don't want you to die on the battlefield.

Why are you apologizing? It's not your fault that you feel this way for me. My brother went missing without any reason why. I understand if you feel hesitant to have me go with you...
