Chapter 26 - The Truth

[A hooded person was at the door. Reyn and Lyrinn both look at the hooded person.]

Reyn
Oh Galloris...

Galloris
Oh she's awake. How is she?

Reyn
I'm not sure...

Galloris
May I speak with her alone? If that's fine with you Reyn?

[Reyn nods and takes his leave. Galloris closes the door and takes a seat beside Lyrinn. Lyrinn notices that Galloris' voice was familiar.]

Galloris
How are you feeling?

Lyrinn
Slightly in pain...

Galloris
I see...

Lyrinn
Your voice is familiar...

Galloris
I'm sure you know my brother. He's my triplet brother in fact... and he was your lover.

Lyrinn
... Thalasso?

Galloris
Yup. That's him.

[Galloris unhoods himself revealing his face. Lyrinn was surprised to see that Galloris was completely identical to Thalasso. He could probably pass as his own brother and no one would know.]

Lyrinn
You look so much like him...

Galloris
Indeed. I am his identical brother in fact.

Lyrinn
... Why did you bring me in?

Galloris
Thalasso had asked me that if anything ever happened to him, that I would take you under my wing. However when I found out Thalasso had died, I grieved about it for so long I forgot to come find you and take you in.

Lyrinn
... I see.

[Lyrinn looks down trying not to cry but everything she had bottled up burst out into tears. Galloris fell into a deep sadness.]

Lyrinn
I'm sorry I couldn't protect your brother...

Galloris
Lyrinn... it's not your fault.

Lyrinn
But he was my love... I should've protect him.

Galloris
You know how much he wanted to protect you, you have to understand that you can't always save the ones we care about and you shouldn't blame yourself just because you couldn't protect those you care about.

Lyrinn
I just...

Galloris
I know... I know it hurts. But from now on, I'll be the one to protect you. Consider me your brother-in-law if you like.

[Although his tone of emotion was unsettling, Galloris hugs Lyrinn trying his best to comfort her. It took Lyrinn sometime before she could stop crying but even when she stopped, Galloris kept hugging her as if Lyrinn was a small child. To Galloris, Lyrinn was the only thing left of his brother. Looking at Lyrinn, he seems to admire her beauty.

There was a small moment of silence before Galloris lets go of Lyrinn. Lyrinn takes a moment before asking him a question.]

Lyrinn
Do you know anything about my missing brother?

Galloris
I do but... Why do you wish to know?

Lyrinn
He's been missing for a long time. I've been wanting to recall him but no one would help me... There's also an oath that I swore to do and I know full well it will take my life. I just want to at least know who my brother was...

Galloris
I see... If you really want to know who your brother is... you need to reveal your blood clan. I doubt that if I told you right now you would believe me. I have a revealer's staff to do so but only when you're ready.
