Chapter 20 - Fallen Love

{Few days later, Golden Wasteland}

[Lyrinn and Thalasso have grown closer than ever. They became a lovely couple as well as training partners.

Over the next few days, Lyrinn is able to properly wield the water abilities of the gem but is still trying to learn how to incorprate them in combat. As for her primary powers, she has started to train them and hone them to the best of her ability. Because of her Blessed abilities, she is able to easily master the primary gem's abilities but has yet to start using gems in combat.]

Thalasso
You've growing a lot in your gem abilities my dear. Your blessed abilities especially.

[Thalasso was proud. Proud to have a blessed one as his pupil and his new love. Lyrinn improved a lot and hammered her training into her bones as much as she could during the few days.]

Lyrinn
I'll make you proud my dear.

Thalasso
No dear, make yourself proud. I always tell that to my students because it's more rewarding to make yourself proud rather than make someone proud.

[It was the best advice Lyrinn had ever heard.

After training for a few days, Lyrinn was wondering around the city with Thalasso she starts to sense something rather ominous. The sense of an unknown raid. Thalasso notices Lyrinn quivering like hatchling.]

Thalasso
Is everything okay?

Lyrinn
I don't feel too good.

Thalasso
Are you sick my dear?

Lyrinn
Not physically. I just feel like something bad might come around.

[Thalasso starts to worry but tries to calm Lyrinn down.]

Thalasso
Hey, we'll be alright-

Unknown Sky kid
Raid! There's an army coming!

[Many residents start screaming and running in fear. The dangerous aura looms across the city. Thalasso and Lyrinn run to find an army of corrupted sky kids marching towards them. The two prepare their weapons and run to hold the army as long as they could.

Shortly after, the Wasteland guards lead by Calibe eventually come to help. Despite being outnumbered, the Wasteland guards managed to defeat the majority of the corrupted sky kids but were wiped out before they could finish. Eventually Calibe and the Corrupted Leader Pythoris start fighting to the death.

The battle was atrocious, many fallen soldiers lie soaked among the blood mixed with mud. Calibe tried his best to hold off Pythoris as much as he could however Calibe was having a hard time trying to keep up with the attacks.]

Calibe
You two retreat with the others! I'll hold him off as much as I can-

[Before Calibe could finish his sentence, Pythoris manages to impale Calibe and leaves him there in the mud to slowly die. He grabs his staff. Thalasso then faces Pythoris. Lyrinn attempts to intercept and help but Thalasso creates a huge tsunami coming in Lyrinn's direction.]

Lyrinn
Thalasso!?

Thalasso
I'm sorry, but this is for your sake.

Lyrinn
What...!?

[The tsunami captures Lyrinn and carries her away from the battle.  Lyrinn desperately tries to escape it. Thalasso and Pythoris fight hard up to the point where things become bloody. More blood seeps into the mud. Lyrinn could only watch as she panicked.]

Corrupted Pythoris
You think you'll survive me?

Thalasso
No, but she will and that's what matters. I made a vow to her brother to protect her, and I'll do it even if it costs my life!
