Chapter 15 - Water Training

{Golden Wasteland, Boneyard City}

[Lyrinn and Thalasso are in the training room. Thalasso decides to teach Lyrinn how the water gem works. They sit side by side.]

Thalasso
Wielding the water gem is usually one of the harder gems to master. However I think its because not many really realize that water is able to take on many states and shapes. Let's say I put water in a rectangular container, what shape does the water make?

Lyrinn
A rectangle.

Thalasso
Correct. Now I want you to hold your hand out with the gem towards the wall across from us and imagine a basic shape on the spot across from us.

[Lyrinn points her hand with the water gem towards the wall and tries to imagine a person instead of a basic shape. Water flows from both the water gem and to her surprise, the blessed gem, and create water in the shape of a person. Thalasso looks at Lyrinn in awe but it soon disappears when Lyrinn couldn't hold the figure and the water splashes the floor.]

Lyrinn
(Oh gosh, maybe I shouldn't have done that...)

Thalasso
Very creative of you. Maybe try making it smaller or use a basic shape.

[Lyrinn attempts to make a small water ball instead. Water starts to shape into a ball.]

Thalasso
Alright now focus your attention on the ball until I tell you to stop.

[Doing as Thalasso says, Lyrinn tries her best to focus on the ball to the point where she's exerting a lot of energy. She starts to sweat but still tries her best to focus. Times passes by and Thalasso notices Lyrinn starts to shake.]

Thalasso
Lyrinn you can stop now.

[Lyrinn tries to keep going but is noticeably low on energy. Thalasso gets worried.]

Thalasso
Lyrinn!

[His shout snaps Lyrinn's focus and the ball splashes onto the floor. Lyrinn almost collapses onto the floor as well but Thalasso catches her.]

Thalasso
You alright?

Lyrinn
Yeah...

Thalasso
Don't exert your energy like that okay?

Lyrinn
Yes sir.

[Thalasso pats Lyrinn on her head and smiles.]

Thalasso
This is your first time. Go easy on yourself.

Lyrinn
Alright.

Thalasso
Now let's move onto the other part: state of matter. Now let's say I freeze the water into ice. What state of matter is the water in?

Lyrinn
Solid.

Thalasso
Correct. Now, I want you to try to create water and try to change its state of matter.

Lyrinn
Got it.

[Lyrinn creates a cube of water then freezes it into ice.]

Thalasso
Very good. 

Lyrinn
Hmm... 

[Lyrinn sublimes the ice into water vapor. Thalasso becomes impressed.]

Thalasso
Has your brother Syronos been teaching you so much about gems?

Lyrinn
He's been a long time teacher in my life.

Thalasso
Haha, of course. Now knowing how you did, I'm sure it won't take long for you to master the water abilities of the gem. But take your time. Mastering something takes a lot of time. 

Lyrinn
I will.

Thalasso
When you feel ready, harness its abilities with good intentions. 

[The student and the teacher train together until nightfall. Lyrinn goes to bed while Thalasso heads outside his house. A messenger bird awaits with a letter. Thalasso grabs the letter from the bird and reads it.]

Thalasso (reading the letter)
Dear brother,
I know its been long since I've sent a letter to you however I felt like I needed to tell you something. 

You've noticed the increase of corruption raids recently right? It's been concerning especially in Vault. I fear that something bad may happen and we need to prepare for it.

Otherwise, how have you been? Its been quite a while since I've last seen you ever since the raids in Vault. I hope you're doing well in your endeavors.

Your brother
Gal

[Thalasso immediately goes inside and starts to write a letter back to his brother.]

Writing
Dear Brother,

I have noticed the raids that have been going on. I'm afraid I'm not sure of what will happen.

I have a request for you as well. Lyrinn has become one of my students and I believe she can be a powerful fighter. If I die, I need you to find her and make sure you look after her in my stead.

I've been well. I just hope you are as well.
