Colt's hand tightens around my small hand and I look around the carnival, my eyes stopping on Heath. I gulp but lead Colt the other way Heath was going.
“Owen and Alida are that way.” Colt says.
“Then we'll go around, Colt. I don't want to be near him.” I confess.
Colt sighs. “He doesn't even go to these fucking things.” Colt grumbles.
I give his hand a tight squeeze. “How about I text Alida and tell her we'll meet up with her in a little bit, yeah?” Colt nods and I send her a quick message. “I say we go on whiplash.” I share with a smirk.
“You want to go on that? If I remember correctly you almost canceled on us because you were throwing up this morning.” Colt teases as he lifts an eyebrow.
I bite my lip, it is true. I especially don't think I should be going on a ride that spins 40 times in less then 30 seconds while I'm carrying a child, but I am 7 weeks, what could possibly happen? “Come on! This is my first carnival.” I whine as I tug on his arm while I start walking towards the short line. Colt sighs but walks to the line with me.
“Don't blame me when you get sick.” Colt mumbles. I smirk and patiently wait in line but I lean into Colt when a boy around my age smirks at me. As if Colt saw him checking me out he wraps a protective arm around my waist, something Lance never did. “Are you sure you're going to be okay?” Colt wonders as the line starts moving. Colt unwraps himself from me as we enter the cart and Colt buckles us in.
“I guess we're just going to have to wait and see.” I exclaim. Colt gives me a 'great' look. I then smile to myself when Colt lazily drapes his arm over my shoulder.
Things were much different with Lance than it is with Colt. Lance never showed affection in public, maybe the first few months of us being together, but never really after. Maybe a kiss here and there or hold hands but he never did more then that. Sure the sex was great but that isn't the key to a great relationship. I always wanted more from Lance, nothing much, at least an arm wrapped my waist. Just something to show people I was his, I was Lance's girlfriend. This girl is taken, but no matter how much I wanted him to show me off it never worked.
With Colt its different, he definitely claims me as his. Just walking past us you would know I was his and he was mine. Colt and I showed affection. When I go out with Colt I don't feel like he's ashamed that I'm his girlfriend. Colt enjoys showing the world I'm his. That's what I want in a guy, to be able to say this is my girl and Colt does just that. Something Lance never did.
I'm happy with Colt, yes I was happy with Lance, but I'm more happy with Colt- if that makes any sense. I guess you could say Colt has the more daring side to him, the I don't care side. Colt looks like a tough guy, someone who wouldn't be showing off his girlfriend, but he is. That's the I don't care side to him. He's tough but has a soft side and he doesn't care about showing off that soft side to anyone.
“I guess it wasn't that bad.” I snap out of my thoughts and agree with Colt as we walk down the road of the carnival.
“Not feeling sick.” I add.
Colt chuckles. “So, what do you want to do next?” He questions and I stop him from walking any farther when I see a big fluffy dog hanging in a game booth.
