Chapter 39

I point to River. “Go walk to River.” I say slowly as I start to release her hold on my hand. Haven wobbles a little but she keeps her balance as I stop holding her hand. “Walk to River.” I repeat. Haven takes a step forward and keeps repeating her actions but once she gets to River, she falls on her butt. River laughs and soon Haven is laughing along with her. 

“River, be careful.” Colt warns when River picks Haven off the ground. 

“You are such a worry bug.” Aubrey groans as she shakes her head. 

Kathy smacks a hand on Colt's shoulder. “You do need to lay back and relax.” She adds. 

“Hey! Leave the kid alone, he's just being cautious!” My Dad exclaims as he and Elliot look away from the TV. 

Colt raises an eyebrow and smirks. “See, they're with me.” I just chuckle at them and look over at River and Haven. 

Today is Haven's first birthday party so we're just having a small little gathering at Colt's house. Sadly Alida and Owen are back at college and couldn't make it but they promised to see her this weekend. Colt invited Jett, Trey, and Jeremy but they already plans and couldn't make it either. So, it was just Coltís parents, my parents, River, Nathan, and Lucy. I was enjoying my time though so I'm not complaining. 

“Infinity?” I snap out of my thoughts and nod at River. “Can you take Haven? I got to go to the bathroom.” I nod and stand up, grabbing Haven from River, then River runs off to the bathroom. I chuckle at River then put Haven on the floor, put my hand in hers, and I walk her over to her toys. 

“So, Colt?” Kathy asks, I look over at the two as I sit down and rattle the rattle in front of Haven's face but she takes it away from me. “How's college?” 

Colt nods. “Its pretty good, I have a great spot on the D-3 hockey team they have, I'm actually taking a road trip with my team to Mass next week, we're going to check out their college leagues and whatnot.” 

“You are?” Kathy and I both question at the same time. This is the first time I'm hearing about this. 

Colt bites his lip and looks down at me. “Oh, yeah, surprise! I was going to tell you tonight, but I guess not.” He mumbles. 

I roll my eyes. “When are you going?” I ask. 

“The 5th to 8th.” He answers. I just nod and glance down at Haven, she was standing up, and bouncing up and down as she rattled the rattle, I smile at her. 

“I can't believe my baby is a Sophomore in college!” Aubrey exclaims as she throws her arms around Colt. Colt blushes and tries to get her away from him. 

“Mom.” Colt groans. Aubrey sighs and lets go and goes back to sitting at the kitchen island next to Kathy. 

“So when are we going to have cake and presents?” Elliot wonders. I glance at Colt.
