Colt lays on his back on my bed and stares up at my white ceiling.
“Infinity? What did happen to your Mom?” He questions with a low and quiet voice.
I sigh. “Back in 8th grade my parents got a divorce, they just weren't getting along any more. They were always arguing over jobs, bills, and how we can't pay of our house. It got to the point where my Dad was sleeping on the couch, and my Mom couldn't even look at my Dad. They filed for a divorce. My Mom still loved my Dad, she really did, and so when she moved out of the house she wasn't the same anymore. When it was my Mom's week, she was antisocial, she barely came out of her room. She was depressed. It was one day back in Freshman year when Nate and I were waiting outside for Mom to pick us up, after hours and hours just sitting outside, we went in. My dad was crying on the phone, screaming, and just not being himself. Nate and I started questioning him and what happened. He told us Mom was gone. She was suicidal, she had tied a rope around her neck and drowned herself. I could only stand there in horror as my Dad explained to us that my Mom didn't like herself anymore, it was the hardest thing in my life.” I slap a hand over my face to stop the tears from coming out. “But my mom and brother were closer to each other than anything. Three weeks later he tries killing himself the same way Mom did, but he ended up failing-” My voice cracks and I'm immediately held in Colt's arms.
Minutes go by as we just lay on my bed, my small cries filling the silent air around us. I never really did tell anyone about my Mom because no one cared to ask. My Dad never wanted to talk about it, and Kathy didn't want hear about it because she gets sad and heartbroken by it. I could never tell Nathan how I feel because I'm scared I'll trigger him somehow.
I take a couple deep breaths and drop my hand, I look at Colt and his eyes stare into mine. His once sparkling blue eyes are now darkened by a cloud of dark, dark blue, my eyes widen at the sudden change of color. Cage's eyes. The color was a spitting image of Cage's darkening ones.
“Sorry to bother, but Infinity Nathan's on the phone for you,” I pull my eyes away from Colt's and look over at my shoulder to Kathy. “you alright sweetie?” Kathy asks when her eyes narrow at me. I nod and give her a smile, she stares at me for a couple seconds but then quickly glares at Colt.
“Tell him I'll be there in a minute.” Kathy nods then closes my door. I unwrap myself from Colt and quickly get away from him. “I'll be right back.” I mumble, horrified of Colt this minute. I turn around and wrap my hands around the cold doorknob. Colt's hand flies over mine and I jump out of my skin at the sudden impact. My heart skips a couple beats and I close my eyes, then turn around.
“Infinity?” Colt whispers. I open my eyes and look into his eyes, a sparkling blue river of eyes staring back at me. “Are you okay?” He asks with furrowed eyebrows. I chuckle and nod. Colt smiles. “Okay, well I guess I'll let you get the phone.” I nod then exit my room.
That was...odd. Very, very odd. I've never seen Colt's eyes change that color before, it was scary. Just something about the darkening color screamed danger. I didn't like it one bit.
“Nathan?” I ask once I grab the phone off the kitchen counter.
“Guess whose getting discharged from the hospital tomorrow?” Nathan's cheery voice rings over the line and a grin spreads its way on my face.
“It doesn't happen to be you by any chance does it?” I tease.
“Maybeee,” He sings. “3:30 tomorrow, don't forget okay? I expect my bed made neatly and a sandwich waiting for me.”
I gasp. “Now that you say that, its not happening.”
“You're mean, Infinity.”
I laugh. “Thank you, now I guess I'll let you go. Colt's over right now soooo...” I trail off.
