Protecting the Alpha

* CHAPTER 3 *

" So now what? If the alpha has been lying about Lance being Alpha, do we out him to the elders and the pack." I bit my lip in consintration. If we tried to out my father now with the Blood moon pack here, they will find it as a weakness. They would attack our pack and I had no doubt that many inocent people would be hurt. I shook my head. " No we wait for the right moment. No one is to be told." I commanded. Both Flame and Thayne.

They bowed their heads in respect. "Flame I want you to be my Beta. I need someone who is going to loyal,and also is going to have my back." Flame had a face splitting grin on her face. " You didn't even have to ask." I smiled at my cousin and nodded my head at her. I heard a cough behind me before Thayne spoke " You will need enforcers also. I would like to be the first to offer my services." I nodded my head at Thayne. " I accept your offer Thayne" He bowed his head in a sighn of respect once again. " I pledge...." I raised my hand to stop both Flame and Thayne, before they pledged their alligence to me. " Not yet guys. We need to do it at the right moment, and right now is not it." Both of them looked at me puzzled. I could see Thayne struggling with his wolf. I waited for him to calm his self before speaking. "You will be cut off from the pack that includes my Father. You will have to wait on pledging your loyalty later also." Flame smirked and Thayne bowed his head. "Look I have been silent for many years I am used to it. I will have to continue on with my daily routine. which means you will also. Helping me Thayne only Flame can." Thayne smirked " I make no promises on that alpha." I nodded my head in understanding. I heard running and paniced voices and shouts outside in the hall. Before my brother burst in through Flames door. she growled and sent him a glare. He flinched back a bit before yelling at me. " Get down stairs you lazy mutt. The Blood Moon pack is here." Both Thayne and flame snarled at my brother for disrespecting me. I kept my head down as I passed my brother. I sent a look over his shoulder at them before heading down stairs. I took two stairs at a time trying to aviod my brother. I heard my father talking to some one who had a deep and chilling voice. As I rounded the corner I sucked in a breath. the man my father was talking to seemed twice my fathers hight and twice as big. The man heard my intake of breath and faced me. my father scowled "This is my Leah Lucid. My daughter." The man held out his hand to me to shake. I put my hand in his and gave it a squeeze while he just tried to crush my hand. I made no sound nor did I flinch. He gave me a smirk and let go of me. "She is very lovely." I glared at him behind my fathers back. his smile just grew ten fold. "Yes I suppose she is." My father said through gritted teeth. " If you would Lucid, Follow me to the kitchen." I waited for everyone to pass me before I followed behind.

We entered the kitchen to find a group of girls gossiping around the table. The one I recognized as the one my cousin pinned to the wall. all them looked up as my father entered the room. " Hello alpha" all of them said. " Cali will you come here." The girl I recognized came forward with a huge fake smile plastered acrossed her face. "This is Cali the future Luna of this pack." I rolled m eyes and held back a snort. Lucid nodded his head at her. He disregarded her as if she was nothing. Cali's smile faltered a bit before she pasted on a bigger one. " You all must be hungry I can have Leah make you something if you would like." The Blood moon pack members that came with Lucid nodded their heads. Cali turned her sickly sweet smile towards me. " Leah make them some food will you." Lucid raised his brow at Cali. I nodded my head at her and started to make my way to the stove. " If you need anything around here ask me and I will have Leah get it for you. I hope you are comfortable while you are here." Cali waved her hand as she walked out of the kitchen. "your daughter does the cooking." My father nodded his head. "She isn't worth much else. you see she has not shifted into her wolf." Lucid looked at me for a moment before turning to my father. " That's a shame." I held back a retort that was on the tip of my tounge. Flame strode into the kitchen as I was gathering some ingredients from the refrigerator. "Ah Flame there you are. Lucid this is Flame future Beta of my son." Flame growled low at my father. with out thought she retored. " I will not be beta Lance." my fathers mouth dropped in surprise. I was looking back and forth between my cousin and father. My father stood to his full hight before snarling. "You will be the beta of the next alpha." Flame bowed her head " Of course Alpha." If you weren't looking you would have missed her smile. I smiled to myself wondering if my father realizes what he has just done.
