*CHAPTER 14*

I couldn't keep my thoughts from the man. Who was he and how did he know my father. I felt a hand touch my shoulder. I turned to see Blake standing behind me. "You weren't expecting your father to be here." It wasn't a question it was a statement. I shook my head no. "I thought I left him behind in America." Blake sighed and pulled me into a hug. I stiffened up and awkwardly hugged him back.

" Let's gather everyone and head home." I quickly stepped back from him. I mind linked Flame and told her to have everyone meet at the cars. By the time we reached our home it felt like hours past. I was feeling very antsy and nervous. What else has my mother kept from me. Why did she keep so much from me. I stepped out from the car with Flame close behind me.

She looked around and tried sniffing the air. " You won't find my scent." I jumped and Flame moved closer to me. "There is no need for that beta. I won't bite her." The man laughed darkly. Flame just growled at him. " Flame make sure everyone gets inside." Flame turned to me about to argue. " Go I'll be fine. if I need you I will mind link you." Flame nodded her head. " I don't know who you are but don't harm her in any way. Unless you want to be torn apart." Flame turned and stormed into the house. I seen Thayne,Jocelyn, Tinsley and Flame at the front door window peeking out.

Blake came up behind them and shut the curtain blocking their view. I smiled and turned towards the man. "You look like her." the man's eyes turned dark for a moment. but the moment seemed to last only seconds. " Who do I look like?" the man ignored my question. " If you are going to ignore me then I'm going in." He quickly turned to me " You look like your mother." I sucked in my breath. " Do I really. I can barely remember her now. her smell her face her voice. everything about her is fading away from my memory." I held back my tears that threaten to spill over. " I still remember everything about her. as if she only left just a day ago. Leah I need to tell you a story. one that is filled with sadness and sarrow." I nodded my head. " I meet your mother when she was at the same ball you were. I just got back from Egypt and really didn't want to be there. But I had to make a appearance. I spotted your mother with a group of girls laughing. I couldn't tell you what the other girls looked like. your mother is who I couldn't stop starting at. Her eyes are the first thing I noticed about her. Ice grey and when she looked at you it was like she could see your soul." He paused and took a deep breath.

" I remember her turning to her friends and saying something. before she began walking my way. she smiled the most beautiful smile and cocked her head to the side.." I moved to sit down on the grass. I was hanging onto every word this man was saying. Soaking it all in.

" Her name was Tatum. A very odd yet beautiful name it suited her. We ended up talking and dancing for most of the ball. When the ball was ending she became quite and saddened. When I asked her about the mood change all she said was we shouldn't have talked. She hurried off then without another word.

I followed her at a distance till she reached her pack house. I waited till everyone was asleep before I found her. She wasn't to thrilled when she seen me in her room. She actually threw a few select things at me." I chuckled at the man. as he smiled at me. " We talked until the deathly rays of the sun came up. She told me of her arranged marriage to your father. And how she was supposed to meet him tomorrow and how scared she was. looking back now we should have taken her anxiety as a sign of things to come." I furrowed my brows in confusion." Mr..." I trailed off not knowing what to call the man in front of me. " Just call me Miles." I nodded my head. " Miles how were you both to know what my father is like?" Miles sighed and looked down at the ground. " We couldn't have but there were a lot of red flags. As the months went on your mother and I became closer and your grandfather noticed as did your Father.

He tried to forbid us from each other. But we would always find a way to see each other. We were drawn together like moths to a fire. We ended up falling in love. But there was nothing we could do about it. We kept quite and met up as much as we could." Miles began to pace back and forth in front of me. " Surly my grandfather seen what was happening." Miles nodded his head.

" Of course he did. But by a foolish mistake he sighted a contract that was cursed by a witch that if this arranged marriage wasn't followed through with your mother would die. As months turned into a year Kyle's reputation reached me. I became afraid for the first time in many years. I pleaded to your grandfather to figure out a way to release your mother from the fate that was before us all. But there was nothing he could do." I stared into the sky feeling the first sting of tears threatening to fall again. " The day your mother left was a very bloody day. your grandfather had asked me to sit in a meeting between his pack and your father's. as things got heated your mother spoke out and Kyle struck her. everything became still there was no sound no movement until I lunged at your father. his pack warriors jumped in front of me but I just tore them down without a problem. I heard your grandfathers pack falling but I didn't care. as I reached your father he smirked at me. I found your weakness. I laughed and before he could do anything I broke your father's body. to the point were even his wolf blood wouldn't be able to heal him for months. I remember being staged of by Raul another council inforecer. After that your fathers pack left with your mother to America." Miles whispered the last part.

tears were falling down my face. I couldn't stop them. My mother was forced into a marriage she didn't want while loving a different man. I was crying for her pack who was cut down in front of her. " I'm sorry for everything you went through." miles stood up from the ground " Leah I wanted revenge then as I do now.

But I do know and see that this revenge I hold in me is not greater then the need to fight that is in you. I will train you and teach you how to fight. this will be my way to forgive myself for what happened." Before I could say anything to miles he was gone again without a word.

I dusted myself off with sorrow in my heart I went inside to face the questions that I knew my friends my family held for me. as I was walking in I felt a chill go down my spine I shook it off and walked into my warm home.
